The 2024 WNBA season enters the halfway point on Sunday afternoon with a matchup between the Dallas Wings and Las Vegas Aces in Paradise, NV.

The Wings finally got a victory on Friday against the Atlanta Dream after losing 14 of their previous 15 games. The Aces were upset on the road by the Los Angeles Sparks, which ended a six-game winning streak.

My Wings vs. Aces predictions run down the spread and total for this Western Conference battle as I give my best WNBA picks for July 7.

Wings vs Aces predictions

My best bet
A’ja Wilson Over 26.5 points (-102 at FanDuel)

My analysis

The injuries just keep piling up for the Dallas Wings as Maddy Siegrist joins Jaelyn Brown and Satou Sabally as missing pieces for extended periods of time. The good news is that Natasha Howard has recently returned and played well over the last week. She had 36 points and 11 rebounds on Wednesday against the Phoenix Mercury.

The Las Vegas Aces and the Wings met a month ago in Dallas in a Commissioner’s Cup game. Las Vegas won that matchup 95-81 in a game that saw quite the scoring showdown between A’ja Wilson and Arike Ogunbowale. Wilson put up 36 points and Ogbunowale put up 31. However, Wilson had a lot more help from her teammates that enabled them to post a big victory.

The Wings have major problems defending the paint, ranking dead-last in the WNBA in two-pointers allowed and 11th in two-point field goal percentage. They also rank last in defensive rebounds gained and 11th in offensive rebounds allowed. Wilson will be licking her chops to get this matchup again in the post.

Wilson shot 15 of 22 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line in that last matchup in Dallas and racked up 12 rebounds. While the return of Howard will give Teaira McCowan and Monique Billings some help, it won’t be enough to contain the league’s leading scorer and second-leading rebounder. The two-time MVP will have another field day with the Wings’ post defense and rebounding woes.

Wilson has scored 27 or more points in 13 of her 19 games this season. The Wings have allowed multiple players to reach this figure in the past couple of weeks alone. Wilson will light up the scoreboard once again and hit this high point total in a comfortable win.

Wings vs Aces same-game parlay (SGP)

A’ja Wilson Over 26.5 points

A’ja Wilson Over 10.5 rebounds

Aces -15

Not only will Wilson hit her point total, but she should also hit her rebound total of 10.5. She has surpassed this number in four of her past five games and had 12 boards in her last matchup with the Wings.

Finally, we will finish off the parlay with the Aces to cover this big spread. They won the last matchup on the road by 14 points and have won their last four home games by an average margin of 15.5 points. Those home wins were against much better competition than the injury-riddled Wings, too.
