The Las Vegas Aces (17-14) are finding their rhythm at the right time with the playoffs on the horizon, and they'll look to stay hot as they host the league-worst Connecticut Sun (5-24) tonight.

With Vegas building momentum, it's A'ja Wilson powering the charge — delivering another MVP-caliber season. That’s exactly why our Sun vs. Aces predictions are zeroing in on her to lead the way once again.

Let's get right into my WNBA picks for Sunday, August 10.

Sun vs Aces predictions

My Sun vs Aces best bet: A'ja Wilson Over 35.5 points + rebounds + assists (-114 at FanDuel)

Where there is a will, there's a Wilson. In this case, it's A'ja Wilson providing a way for the Las Vegas Aces to assure that her team won't be missing the WNBA playoffs after a very rocky first half of the season.

The Aces have won five of their last six games, including a crucial 90-86 victory over the Seattle Storm, which helped Vegas make a jump over them in the standings.

Las Vegas is moving on up, and much of that can obviously be attributed to Wilson. The 29-year old vet celebrated her birthday in golden fashion against Seattle by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds to add another double-double notch under her belt.

Wilson has scored double digits in nine out of the last 10 contests for the Aces, and with little room for error, the star shows that she's well aware that her playoff chances are slim-to-none if she doesn't go all out.

In five of those last 10 games, Wilson has secured a double-double. With the league's worst defense stepping foot into Michelob Ultra Arena, there's no doubt about it that Wilson will reach the Over on this combo prop.

The Connecticut Sun allow 87.4 points per game — second-most in the league while ranking last in defense with a 109.9 rating. Plus, they're awful on the road with a 1-13 record this season.

So yeah, all signs point to Wilson having her way tonight before a brutal one-two punch of facing the New York Liberty and Phoenix Mercury in the games to come after.

Sun vs Aces same-game parlay (SGP)

A'ja Wilson Over 35.5 points + rebounds + assists

Aces moneyline

NaLyssa Smith double-double

With the guidance of Wilson and having recent success that is positioning them well for the postseason, the Aces are on the right track to try and make a jump over the Indiana Fever (who are still without Caitlin Clark) next in the standings.

One game at a time, of course, but when opportunities like tonight against the Sun fall into your lap, you can't squander it. Bring the brooms out and take the Aces to win straight-up in a 4-0 regular season sweep over Connecticut.

Last, but certainly not least, Wilson's birthday twin NaLyssa Smith also had a memorable day against the Storm after registering her first double-double since joining Las Vegas in a 10-point, 12-rebound performance on Friday.

Smith is settling in well with the Aces and could build off that momentum versus a Sun team that isn't clicking in any way. I have my sights set on Smith matching Wilson's energy again tonight.
