The Seattle Storm faces the Dallas Wings just days after rookie guard Paige Bueckers erupted for a league-high 44 points against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Despite that explosion, my Storm vs. Wings predictions call for a quieter scoring night from Bueckers and a big offensive showing from Seattle’s veteran forward Nneka Ogwumike.

Read on as I share my WNBA picks for Friday, August 22.

Storm vs Wings predictions

My Storm vs Wings best betNneka Ogwumike Over 17.5 points (-114 at FanDuel)

Seattle Storm star Nneka Ogwumike has been as steady as they come, averaging 18.4 points per game while playing 30-plus minutes a night.

She’s a versatile scorer who gives Seattle a reliable inside-out option and has cleared 18 or more points in six of her last 10 outings. The Dallas Wings continue to struggle defensively, surrendering 90 or more points in three of its previous five games.

The Wings allow scoring from all areas, and Ogwumike’s combination of size and experience should create mismatches all evening.

With Seattle needing a win to stay in playoff position, look for the veteran forward to be heavily involved offensively and take advantage of Dallas’ porous defense.

Ogwumike has scored 18 or more in six of her previous 10 with a strong chance to score at least 18 points tonight against Dallas.

Paige Bueckers pick: A Quiet Storm from the Rookie

My Paige Bueckers best bet: Under 19.5 points (-125 at Caesars)

Paige Bueckers is coming off a career-high 44 points on 81% shooting against the Los Angeles Sparks, but repeating that effort against Seattle feels unlikely.

Seattle owns the league’s fifth-best defense and has held Bueckers under 20 points in both previous matchups this season.

Expect the Storm to trap and double-team her consistently, forcing the rookie into tough looks and limiting her touches.

Facing a disciplined, veteran Storm squad that thrives on slowing down perimeter and midrange threats, Bueckers is in for a much tougher night and should struggle to clear the 20-point mark.

Despite her scoring outbursts, Bueckers has stayed under 20 points in three of her last five outings. I’m betting that trend continues against Seattle.

Storm vs Wings same-game parlay (SGP)

Nneka Ogwumike Over 17.5 points

Paige Bueckers Under 19.5 points

Dallas Wings +8.5

I’ll add the Wings to cover to the Ogwumike and Bueckers props for a solid, three-leg SGP.

Dallas covered the spread in both contests this season. They are 7-3-0 ATS across the past 10 meetings against a Seattle squad that’s 2-8-0 ATS across their past 10 games.
