Sunday’s WNBA slate will be a busy one. Five games are set to tip off and the finale will be between the Seattle Storm and Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center.

The visitors are favored but could face a major challenge to wrap up the weekend. My Storm vs. Valkyries predictions and WNBA picks will reflect how tough the Valkyries have been at home this season.

Storm vs Valkyries predictions

My Storm vs Valkyries best bet: Valkyries +5.5 (-110 at bet365)

The Golden State Valkyries unexpectedly failed to cover as 8.5-point favorites against Chicago in its latest game, but that won’t affect my outlook for Sunday’s matchup against the Seattle Storm. The Valkyries have routinely handled business as home underdogs this season.

The Valkyries have covered in five straight contests as home underdogs this season. They’re 5-1 ATS as home underdogs overall and won four of those contests outright. The Storm are a better team on paper but have already lost as 10-point road favorites at Chase Center this season.

Both teams are well over .500 against the spread. The home team has consistently beaten the odds, though.

Storm vs Valkyries same-game parlay (SGP)

Valkyries +5.5

Kayla Thornton Over 15.5 points

Veronica Burton Under 9.5 points

Kayla Thornton is still the offensive engine that powers the Valkyries. The Golden State forward has eclipsed 16 points in seven of her previous eight outings. She did have a rare dud with 11 points against the Sky recently but does have an opportunity to build on her success against Seattle.

Thornton torched the Storm with 22 points on 7-for-14 shooting in her lone meeting with them this season. She’s taken at least 11 shots in every contest she’s appeared in since then and will need to be aggressive against a borderline Top-5 scoring defense.

Burton is averaging just over 10 points per game on the year. However, her shooting from the field has been very suspect lately. The Valkyries point guard has made just 10 field goals in her previous five home games while shooting 23.8% from the field and 22.2% from deep.

Seattle is also among the league's best when it comes to limiting opportunities at the charity stripe. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Burton have another low-scoring night, especially after she went 0-for-5 in just 22 minutes against the Sky last time out.
