Only one WNBA game on the schedule hardly reduces chances to bet on the superstars tonight in Liberty vs. Aces.

There is still value to be found in the WNBA even when there is only one game on the slate.

These WNBA picks lean into the superstars on Tuesday, June 23.

A'ja Wilson Over 9.5 rebounds (-105)

When two rivals face off, bet on the superstars. And there is no star bigger in the WNBA than A’ja Wilson. That was true even before the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade.

The Las Vegas Aces have not yet faced the New York Liberty this season, but in the one genuine matchup last year — injury cost Wilson most of the game in their second meeting — the four-time MVP snagged 16 rebounds. Obviously, that was only one game, but let it be illustrative of how Las Vegas emphasizes this matchup.

New York actually has the best rebounding rate in the WNBA in June, but it ranks only No. 6 in offensive rebounding rate. Notably, the Aces are a distinctly better defensive rebounding team than they are offensively. Some of that is by design.

Expect Wilson to reach double digits on the glass solely from her work on the defensive end.

Jonquel Jones Over 1.5 threes (-130)

Breanna Stewart should stop shooting from deep. The Liberty veteran’s poor shooting over the last two years has now spiraled into utter disaster. Hitting 17.6% of her shots from beyond the arc is outright harming New York’s offense.

Fortunately, Jonquel Jones is shooting more often from deep. The Liberty center is attempting a career-high 4.5 threes per game, while hitting 40.3% of them, fitting in line with each of her last two seasons.

Jones has further emphasized her shooting in the last few weeks, going 18-of-37 (48.6%) in her last seven games and clearing this prop in five of them.

Chelsea Gray Over 6.5 assists (-144)

The Point Gawd may be struggling a bit with her own offense, but she always produces much more than simple points. Chelsea Gray has not poured in scoring this year, sticking in single digits in six of 16 games and 12 or fewer points in 11 of 16 games.

Yet, her assist numbers are rather gaudy. Gray has cleared this wildly modest prop — even with that juice — in four straight games and in six of her last eight, one of those exceptions coming by the mere hook.

Gray has averaged 7.8 assists in June, making it clear this prop should be set at truer odds at 7.5, and even then, the Over would be considered.

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
