A'ja Wilson Over 9.5 rebounds (-105)

Four-time MVPs rarely improve. A’ja Wilson seems to have. She is currently averaging a career-high 3-point percentage at 45.9% while taking more 3-pointers per game than any other season in her career. She is currently tied with her career high in assists per game, all while still averaging 25.7 points per game, which would be the second-highest mark of her nine-year career.

Wilson’s rebounds have not climbed; in fact, her rebounding rate is relatively paltry at 16.5% compared to 19.9% two years ago and 19.1% last season. But do not overlook her on the glass. Wilson is simply picking her moments.

In the Las Vegas Aces’ last 11 games, Wilson has found double-digit boards in seven of them, falling short in all three games decided by more than 10 points.

The New York Liberty should keep this much closer than that, compelling Wilson to fill the stat sheet.

Jonquel Jones Over 13.5 points (-105)

Breanna Stewart’s shooting is broken. She is down to 17.6% from deep this season, her problematic last two seasons now becoming an outright drag on the Liberty offense. In June, Stewart has gone 4-of-24 (16.7%) from beyond the arc, never hitting more than one in a game in those eight games.

Enter Jonquel Jones’s offense, in no small part because New York so distinctly needs it.

Jones has shot 48.6% from deep in that same stretch while taking 5.4 per game. Relatedly, Jones has cleared this modest prop in five of those seven games.

Sabrina Ionescu Under 1.5 threes (+130)

There is no joy in this. Life is better when Sabrina Ionescu is humming on all cylinders. She is an utter joy both on and off the basketball court.

But her current back issues are too apparent to put faith in Ionescu. She has appeared in just five games this season, and taking only one 3-pointer in 22 minutes in Los Angeles on Sunday night somewhat affirms her discomfort playing right now. She took only three field goals in that one-point loss; by no means was Ionescu easing up because of a blowout.

She has not even found the free-throw line in the last three games.

Pricing Ionescu props at plus-money right now is a surprise. There is no joy in doubting her. But until Ionescu proves her back is allowing her to play basketball as she wishes, that doubt must be acknowledged.

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
