Two of the top teams in the WNBA will face off as the New York Liberty host the Minnesota Lynx on Friday night.

Minnesota comes in as a 1.5-point favorite, and I like it to cover on the road in my Lynx vs. Liberty predictions.

Let’s take a closer look at this matchup and get my free WNBA picks for Friday, July 3.

Lynx vs Liberty prediction

Lynx vs Liberty best bet: Lynx -1.5 (-115)

The Minnesota Lynx are blowing away their opposition, outscoring opponents by a league-high 11.2 points per game.

They are the league’s best shooting team from deep (37.2%), allow the WNBA’s lowest opposing effective field goal percentage (45.7%), and rank third in rebounding rate (53.2%).

The New York Liberty can compete with Minnesota and the Las Vegas Aces, but are still figuring out how to get the best out of Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Jonquel Jones at the same time.

New York has lost four of its last six overall, and I like the Lynx at -2.5 or less.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Lynx force 15.5 turnovers per game, third-best in the WNBA. That should lead to extra possessions against a New York team that turns the ball over an average of 15.4 times per game, the league’s fourth-worst mark.

Lynx vs Liberty same-game parlay

These are two of the best defensive teams in the WNBA, with Minnesota and New York ranking second and third in points against, respectively.

The Lynx also have the best defensive rating in the league at 97.4, while the Liberty tend to play a bit deliberately, rating in the bottom five in most pace metrics. I like the Under in what should be a hard-fought game.

I’m also taking Lynx forward Natasha Howard to hit her scoring prop at Over 15.5 points. In the absence of Minnesota star Napheesa Collier, Howard (17.7 ppg) has become the key veteran presence on the team.

She’s put up 20+ points in each of her last three games, and I like her to have a big scoring night tonight.

Lynx vs Liberty SGP

  • Lynx -1.5
  • Under 174.5
  • Natasha Howard Over 15.5 points

Lynx vs Liberty player prop pick

Olivia Miles Over 29.5 points + rebounds + assists (-110)

Olivia Miles has been a revelation for the Lynx in her rookie season. The former TCU Horned Frogs star is averaging 18.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game and is the runaway favorite to win WNBA Rookie of the Year.

Miles has gone for 30+ PRA in four of her last five games. She’s nearly getting there on scoring alone on many nights, and should be able to comfortably dish out assists against a Liberty team that creates a league-low 11.8 turnovers per game

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
