The Connecticut Sun will look for its first set of back-to-back wins all season when it hosts the New York Liberty — the same team they thumped on Friday.

With New York still nowhere near full capacity, our Liberty vs. Sun predictions and WNBA picks think the home team can be connected enough to stay within the 13.5-point spread.

Liberty vs Sun predictions

My Liberty vs Sun best bet: Sun +12 (-112 at FanDuel)

In one of the more shocking upsets in the WNBA this season, the Connecticut Sun picked up just their fifth win of the year with a crushing 78-62 win over the defending champion New York Liberty.

It was by far the Liberty’s lowest scoring output of the year, as they’re second in the league in scoring at 86.9 points per game. They also turned it over 23 times while allowing the WNBA’s lowest-scoring team to hang 78 on them in a blowout.

New York was decimated in the frontcourt, highlighted by injuries to All-Star Breanna Stewart (knee), forward Kennedy Burke (calf), and center Nyara Sabally (knee), leaving them with only eight players for Friday.

While those players will again be unavailable, the Liberty have signed 2019 WNBA Finals MVP Emma Meesseman, and she should be able to offer some much-needed minutes to the thin roster.

Still, New York is 5-7 on the road, and an even more astonishing 0-8-1 against the spread in its last nine away games.

It’s a tall task to expect the Sun to send the Liberty to a fifth straight loss, but New York is in its worst funk of the year, so a dominating performance might not be in the cards.

Liberty vs Sun same-game parlay (SGP)

Sun +12

Sabrina Ionescu Over 22.5 points

Jonquel Jones Under 9.5 rebounds

Sabrina Ionescu did all she could to pull New York out of its slide, leading the team with 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists, just the second time all year she’s been tops in all three categories in a game.

We’ll stay with her scoring, as she’s been bumped up to 22.5 points from 20.5 last game. It’s a number Ionescu has bested in four of the last five games.

With Stewart out again, she’ll be the main offensive force for New York again.

You’d think a thinned-out frontcourt would allow Jonquel Jones to star, but it’s been anything but for the 31-year-old center.

Jones had just six boards Friday, and has now gone Under Sunday’s 9.5 rebound line in five of the last six.

Her 33 minutes played was the second-most logged in a game this season, and her minutes are definitely hurting her effectiveness.

She should be close to this figure, but we’ll take the Under until she breaks through.
