Everything was sunshine and rainbows for the New York Liberty until the Chicago Sky came to town and torched the Liberty defense for 90 points.

My analysis
The New York Liberty were never going to go the duration of the WNBA undefeated. This we know.
What we also know is that to be an elite team, one that is serious about taking the next step and winning a title, you have to defend home court and you have to beat up on who many believe to be a weak team in the Chicago Sky.
The Liberty did no such thing. Their defense was gashed for 90 points on 47% shooting and the offense, while putting up 81 on their own, looked a bit out of sorts. Maybe it was a collective letdown from two games against the Caitlin Clark media circus, or maybe it was more than that.
Either way, the Minnesota Lynx will be waiting and they'll be ready to pounce.
Like the Liberty, the Lynx also suffered their first loss of the season, an overtime road loss to Connecticut. They led with 13 seconds left in regulation, only to fall short in the extra frame.
The Lynx got plenty of scoring up and down the lineup, with four players hitting double figures, led by Napheesa Collier's 31/11/4 line. Collier is having a fantastic start to her season and is among the favorites in the WNBA MVP odds.
Matchup-wise, I don't see how New York defends Collier. She's big, she's athletic and they just gave up 46 points in the paint to the Chicago Sky.
