Time is running out on the LA Sparks’ late push for a playoff spot.

On Friday, they’ll host the Indiana Fever — a team they’ve beaten three previous times this season.

With Indiana not exactly on solid playoff footing themselves, our Fever vs Sparks predictions believe this one will mirror the latest matchups: high-scoring shootouts.

Find out why in my WNBA picks for August 29.

Fever vs Sparks predictions

My Fever vs Sparks best bet: Over 178.5 (-110 at bet365)

The Indiana Fever had just two wins in their previous eight, before an important 95-75 win over the Seattle Storm.

Kelsey Mitchell has led the team in scoring in 10 of the 15 games Clark’s been out, with some assistance from Aliyah Boston, who is averaging 15.5 points this season. Boston rang up 27 on Seattle.

They’re going to need to stay hot because the Los Angeles Sparks love to score the basketball. LA enters Friday as the second-highest scoring team in the WNBA at 86.3 points per game.

However, they’re also the league’s worst team on the other end of the floor, allowing an abysmal 88.6 points per game.

The result has been wildly inconsistent play. Since a hot streak that had them rip off wins in eight of nine, they’ve alternated wins and losses in eight straight, including a 92-84 loss to Phoenix last time out.

At this point of the year, you are who you are, and LA has to outscore its defensive woes to climb back into the playoff picture.

The Over has cashed in four of the last five between these teams, and we should see more of the same Friday.

Fever vs Sparks same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 178.5

Kelsey Mitchell Over 21.5 points

Kelsey Plum Over 2.5 threes

Mitchell has scored 22 or more points in six of her last nine games, missing another Over by a single bucket, when she scored 1 against Seattle.

During Clark’s extended absence, Mitchell hung 34 on the Sparks, in a 100-91 loss, and she should have ample opportunity to top this line again.

Kelsey Plum has been off from distance of late, going Under 2.5 makes in three straight and five of her last seven.

But she’s lit up the Fever, drilling at least three 3-pointers in every meeting this season.
