Caitlin Clark is out with a quad injury, and that will make things interesting when the Indiana Fever visit the Washington Mystics.

The Clark injury means someone from the Indiana bench must deliver, and my Fever vs. Mystics predictions expect Sophie Cunningham to be that player tonight.

Read on as I share my WNBA picks for Wednesday, May 28.

Fever vs Mystics predictions

My Fever vs Mystics best bet: Sophie Cunningham Over 8.5 points (-102 at FanDuel)

Caitlin Clark has been ruled out for the next two weeks, which means the Indiana Fever need to replace 19 points and nearly 10 assists per game.

That won’t be easy for the Fever, but at least they have a deep bench filled with ladies who can score, and one of those scorers is Sixth Player of the Year candidate Sophie Cunningham.

Cunningham averages seven points per game this season on roughly 20 minutes per night. Her scoring is slightly down from her 7.7 ppg career average, but she’s a proven and versatile scorer, averaging double-digits in two of her last three seasons with Phoenix.

Cunningham is knocking down 50% of her shots on pedestrian shooting attempts. She’s a decent offensive rebounder, scores well in transition, and can take defenders like the inexperienced Washington Mystics' second-string backcourt to the cup off the dribble.

Per WNBA stats, the Mystics' defense is allowing 12 points per game to reserve guards. Cunningham can exploit Washington with her size, experience, and versatility to score at least nine points tonight.

Fever vs Mystics same-game parlay (SGP)

Sophie Cunningham Over 8.5 points

Aliyah Boston Over 26.5 points+rebounds

Brittney Sykes Over 18.5 points

Cunningham must pick up the scoring slack tonight, but Aliyah Boston must be a force; otherwise, Brittney Sykes and the Mystics will beat them.

Boston must bring her 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds average tonight on the fifth-highest Usage. Look for Boston to put those extra touches to good use.

Boston and Cunningham will need to play big because the versatile-scoring Sykes has scored 19+ points in three of the four games.

Sykes enjoys the W’s fourth-highest Usage Rate (30.4) and is coming off a 1-for-13 shooting night. Indiana allows 52 points per game to opposing guards, and it'll have difficulties containing the 22.5 ppg scorer in what should be a fast-paced game.
