From Caitlin Clark’s traveling media circus to Sydney Johnson’s police-escorted ejections, tonight’s showdown between the Indiana Fever and Washington Mystics boasts more basketball drama than an episode of “One Tree Hill”.

Yeah, that’s right. I love my early 2000’s garbage TV.

My Fever vs. Mystics predictions push all those distractions to the side and focus on Washington’s budding star Kiki Iriafen.

Her 24-point effort was wasted last time out, and my WNBA picks see this matchup with Indiana setting up for another sensational showing on June 8.

Fever vs Mystics prediction

Fever vs Mystics best bet: Kiki Iriafen Over 13.5 points (-115)

Kiki Iriafen is making a case for the league’s Most Improved Player.

This young Washington Mystics roster gives her plenty of time to shine, sitting second on the team in usage.

Her activity has spiked, attempting 10 or more field goals in each of the last three outings after hitting that bar twice in the opening six games.

Iriafen is strong inside, tied for eighth in points in the paint. The Indiana Fever are already soft in the interior, ranking 13th in PITP allowed, and are possibly missing center Aliyah Boston.

Projections flirt with 15 points, which should have Over 13.5 priced around -130.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Iriafen has scored from the foul line the past two games, making 13 of 20 gimmes. Indiana leads the WNBA in personal fouls (24.2) and watches foes pick up a league-high 21.1 points from the stripe on 26 FTAs per game.

Fever vs Mystics same-game parlay

Indiana gets a break from some stronger defensive foes with this trip to Washington. That should help Caitlin Clark get her groove back, especially from deep. Clark knocked down seven triples in her most recent run-in with the Mystics.

Kiki Iriafen is coming off a big game in a one-sided loss, and her ability to score high-percentage points — in the paint and at the foul line — pokes a soft spot in the Indiana defense.

She scored 25 points in an OT loss to the Fever on 11-for-17 shooting back in early May.

  • Fever moneyline
  • Kiki Iriafen Over 13.5 points
  • Caitlin Clark Over 18.5 points

Caitlin Clark pick: Over 18.5 points (-115)

The sky is falling for the Fever and their superstar, Caitlin Clark. At least that’s what the media would have you believe. Rumblings of animosity between her and head coach Stephanie White have only gotten stronger with Clark’s recent slump.

She’s a collective 14-for-50 from the field the past four games, staying below her scoring total in each of those outings.

Tonight’s points prop is down to 18.5 O/U — a low we haven’t seen since Clark came back from a one-game hiatus with a bad back on May 22 (in which she scored 22 points).

To her defense, Indiana has taken on a series of foes ranked near the top in defensive metrics, among the slowest in pace, or both.

Washington runs the third most methodical tempo but doesn’t hold a candle to the Fever’s recent opposition in terms of defense. The Mystics just allowed 109 points to Atlanta and sit 11th in defensive rating.

Clark’s projections teeter on 18 points, but with Boston possibly out or limited, Indiana needs its franchise player to pick up the slack and get right.

Washington could be just the opponent for Clark, considering it sits near the bottom of the WNBA in protecting the perimeter and allows the second-most 3-pointers.

Clark dropped 32 points on the Mystics in overtime back in May, with 21 of those tallies coming beyond the arc.
