Two WNBA games on Sunday should yield plenty of Overs, often the case when Marina Mabrey and Kelsey Plum play.

While the NBA Finals take an added day off, the WNBA provides us with two games of delightful basketball.

Both Sky/Tempo and Fire/Sparks should be entertaining, high-scoring games, which naturally leads to some Overs in these WNBA picks on Sunday, June 7.

Marina Mabrey Over 18.5 points (-110)

The question when betting Marina Mabrey props continues to be, 3-pointers or points? Her 3-pointers prop is juiced to -138 on the Over 2.5, while this points prop immediately shows value in comparison.

Neither the Chicago Sky nor the Toronto Tempo is what one would usually describe as good. They both sit in the bottom half of the WNBA standings, and their net ratings fit that description as well. There are plenty of unflattering reasons this game has a spread within a bucket.

As Mabrey has begun this season with hot shooting — 35.4% from deep while taking 8.2 per game — the only thing that has regularly slowed her down has been a blowout one direction or another. When Mabrey plays at least 27 minutes, she has cleared this prop in five of six games, falling short by only the hook last weekend.

A tight game this afternoon should force Mabrey to flirt with 30 minutes and thus with 20 points.

Kelsey Plum Over 20.5 points (-122)

Kelsey Plum picked up where she left off, and we are all better for it. The Los Angeles Sparks superstar sprained an ankle last month, sparking (pun only somewhat intended) some worry she would miss weeks. Instead, Plum returned to the court in less than two weeks.

And she immediately hung 27 points on 10-for-16 shooting against Dallas on Friday. She's scored 25+ points in six of her seven games this season, yet this prop continues to sit as low as 20.5. If it were at 24.5 points, there might be some hesitation, but for now, bet Plum blindly.

She is the primary ballhandler and scorer of a capable but not stellar offense, backed by an atrocious defense. Los Angeles needs points. It needs Plum.

Carla Leite Over 5.5 assists (+116)

The Sparks’ defense is three points worse per 100 possessions than the second-worst defense in the WNBA, but when looking through specific stats, it is somewhat middling in most. That makes some sense: be just below-average in nearly every way, and the sum will be wretched.

Opponents dish out 22.6 assists per game against Los Angeles, the second-highest number in the league. When pondering which piece of the Portland Fire should most benefit from that, the plus-money next to the Over for Carla Leite stands out.

Leite is averaging 5.1 assists in 10 games this season, her biggest role yet after being selected in back-to-back expansion drafts. She has cleared this prop twice in three games in the last week, perhaps a promising sign for the Fire as they think about a playoff bid in their debut season.

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
