Fight analysis
This is a significant step up in competition for Uros Medic, who is 5-3 in his last eight fights but has yet to face a ranked opponent. Geoff Neal enters at No. 12 in the welterweight rankings and has gone to war with Top-5 contenders like Ian Machado Garry and Shavkat Rakhmonov.
Neal is coming off a knockout loss to Carlos Prates, though he looked sharp before getting clipped by an elbow from the division’s hardest hitter. Medic is a dangerous striker, but his defensive lapses and questionable chin remain concerns.
This matchup will likely come down to who lands clean first. With Neal being the more defensively sound fighter and owning the sharper boxing, I’ll side with him.
Additionally, Neal has recently spoken about overcoming past addiction issues and says he’s now fully sober. If that’s the case, we could be seeing the best version of him in years.
