Wimbledon Day 9 predictions
Cam Norrie vs Carlos Alcaraz o32.5 games (-120 at DraftKings)
The last remaining hope for the Brits takes Centre Court Tuesday when unseeded Cam Norrie meets two-time defending champ Carlos Alcaraz.
While both players are coming from tough 4th-round matchups, Alcaraz should handily win this match. He does hold a 4-2 lifetime edge over the Brit, and he’s far and away the more accomplished player on this surface.
Norrie will battle. He’s tasted some success against Alcaraz. The Spaniard has dropped one set in three of four matches. Carlos will play enough loose points for Norrie to draw on his past H2H experiences to send Tuesday’s match Over 32.5 games.
Taylor Fritz 3-1 set score (+260 at Caesars)
Karen Khachanov’s 2-0 lifetime mark against Taylor Fritz should give him an edge, but he’s a large underdog when he meets No. 5 Taylor Fritz on Tuesday.
Khachanov is in trouble. He’s been broken 15 times and conceded 44 break points during this fortnight. Fritz and his five service breaks and 10 receiving break points, with only four breaks on his offerings, give him the edge on grass.
Khachanov won’t wilt, and one mistake could cost Fritz one set. Fritz has struggled closing out matches, and I’m looking at Fritz to win in four sets.
Amanda Anisimova 2-0 (+110 at FanDuel)
Thirteen seed Amanda Anisimova is having the run of her career, and I don’t expect it to end Tuesday against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
Pavlyuchenkova’s inconsistent service game is in trouble. Anisimova is an aggressive baseliner. Her strong return game netted four service breaks against Linda Noskova, and she’ll relentlessly and successfully attack the weaker Pavlyuchenkova offerings.
Tuesday’s matchup against Anisimova is a bad one for Pavlyuchenkova. Her slicing and dicing don’t seem to work against the American, as she’s won only one of seven sets. I expect more of the same on Tuesday.
