Coors Field

Last Meeting ( Jun 13, 2019 ) San Diego 6, Colorado 9

After going 9-1 on their previous homestand, the Colorado Rockies are on their way to another successful stretch at Coors Field. The Rockies attempt to keep the home victories coming when they host the San Diego Padres on Friday for the second contest of their four-game series.

Colorado kicked off its current seven-game homestand by taking two of three from the Chicago Cubs and followed by posting a 9-6 triumph over San Diego in Thursday's series opener. Charlie Blackmon was the offensive star in the victory, going 4-for-5 with a pair of homers and four RBIs as he finished a double shy of the cycle. Blackmon has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 contests and is 10-for-18 with four blasts and nine RBIs during his four-game hitting streak. Manny Machado went 3-for-5 with a pair of homers and three RBIs in a losing effort for the Padres, who have dropped five in a row - including the first three of their six-game road trip.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres RH Cal Quantrill (1-2, 4.85 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Jeff Hoffman (1-3, 8.06)

Quantrill has allowed two runs in three of his five career starts but is 0-1 in those turns. One of those was a no-decision against Philadelphia on June 5, when the 24-year-old Canadian gave up five hits and registered seven strikeouts over five innings in his first walk-free outing. The son of former major-leaguer Paul Quantrill, he posted his first victory in his previous start - a triumph at Toronto on May 25 in which he gave up three runs on two hits (both homers) and two walks over a career-high six frames.

Hoffman is coming off back-to-back road losses - outings against the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets in which he surrendered 11 runs and 13 hits over 10 2/3 innings. The 26-year-old New Yorker made his first three starts of the year at home, winning the last on May 29 after allowing a season-low three runs and seven hits in five frames. Hoffman has made two starts and two relief appearances against San Diego in his career, going 1-1 with a 0.77 ERA as only one of the eight runs he permitted over 11 2/3 frames was earned.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
