Shohei Ohtani is well on his way to locking up another NL MVP award. The superstar continues to terrorize opposing pitchers on a nightly basis, hitting .292 with an MLB-best 23 long balls and 39 RBI. Ohtani just smacked 15 home runs in May alone, and he’s gone deep three times in his last four contests. The 30-year-old will face New York Mets righty Tylor Megill tonight, and while he’s only 1 for 6 lifetime, that lone hit was a homer. Nineteen of his bombs have come against right-handed hurlers, and Megill has allowed three of his four home runs to right-handed hitters. Also, Ohtani already has two long balls in only four games against the Mets in 2025. Look for him to leave the ballpark here.

It’s still a small sample size, and Clayton Kershaw doesn’t have enough innings to qualify, but he’d be in the Bottom 10 percentiles in xERA, xBA, average exit velocity, chase rate, and hard-hit rate in 2025 if he did. So far, right-handed bats have gotten the better of him (.300/.405/.533), saddling him with a 1.88 WHIP and 5.70 FIP. One hitter on the Mets who will be ready to capitalize is Francisco Lindor. The switch-hitting shortstop homered last night in the series opener, making it four home runs in his previous four games. Lindor has exceeded his total bases prop in all four of those games, of course. He will have the platoon advantage against an aging veteran with poor recent results, and will benefit from winds of 6-10 mph blowing out at Chavez Ravine.
