Civale allowed just one earned run to the Boston Red Sox last week and surrendered just two before that as well against the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, he’s very much a contact pitcher. In all three starts in 2025, Civale has hit the Under in strikeouts. He had four and three punchouts, respectively, in his last two outings. When it comes to facing the Cincinnati Reds, Civale has held this lineup to a mere .208 average across 24 at-bats with only five Ks during that span. Even though the Reds are top five in the Majors in strikeouts, Civale doesn’t miss a lot of bats. I do think he’ll pitch well, but Civale just won’t rack up the Ks.

Though Chourio is still trying to recapture some of the glow from his rookie year, there were encouraging signs in his four-hit effort on Saturday, headlined by a three-run dinger. Now the Cincinnati Reds are in the firing line. Chourio hasn’t seen much of Reds starter Brady Singer (1-for-3), but he’s done some of his best hitting on the road this year, with a .298 batting average and 22 RBIs away from American Family Field. Look for Milwaukee to put early pressure on Singer, who allowed 7+ hits in three of his five May starts, and there should be RBI opportunities for Chourio later in the game, too, with the Brewers getting five hits from the Nos. 7, 8, and 9 spots in yesterday’s win.
