Milwaukee @ San Francisco preview

Oracle Park

Last Meeting ( Apr 22, 2025 ) Milwaukee 11, San Francisco 3

Two of the most consistent pitchers in recent Major League Baseball history will go head-to-head for the first time when Freddy Peralta and the Milwaukee Brewers continue a four-game road series against Logan Webb and the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night.

The clubs have split the first two games of the set, with the Brewers avenging a 5-2 loss with an 11-3 shellacking in Tuesday's rematch.

Runs have been hard to come by whenever Peralta (2-1, 1.91 ERA) or Webb (2-1, 2.40) has been on the mound this season.

That's the way it's been since the start of the 2021 season as well.

Since then, Webb has a 3.15 ERA in 130 games, while Peralta's is 3.42 in 113 games.

Webb has fashioned a 52-36 record and .591 winning percentage over that stretch, while Peralta is 39-29 with a .574 percentage.

Remarkably, Webb has recorded 725 strikeouts in those four-plus seasons, while Peralta has 724.

Peralta has gotten the better of the 2025 numbers so far. The right-hander has allowed two or fewer runs in each of his first five starts, the most impressive of which came when he shut out the Athletics for five innings in a 5-3 home win last Friday.

The 28-year-old has faced the Giants four times in his career, three times as a starter, with a 1-1 record and 3.18 ERA. He has never pitched in San Francisco.

Peralta begins the day 18 strikeouts shy of becoming just the 23rd Dominican Republic native to reach 1,000 in his MLB career. He's cherishing the moment.

"It's been a great journey," he said. "I love what's happening in my career right now."

Beating Webb hasn't come easy for San Francisco's opponents this season. The Giants have dropped 2-0 decisions in two of his past three starts, games in which Webb struck out 10 in seven shutout innings at home against Cincinnati on April 7, then 12 in six innings on the road against the Los Angeles Angels last Friday.

The Giants have won all three of his starts in which they supported him with at least one run.

Webb has never lost to the Brewers in his career, going 2-0 with a 2.61 ERA in five starts.

The 28-year-old has been aided by a Giants defense that has committed a total of just one error in his 30 innings. That's one fewer than the number they accrued in a three-batter stretch of the sixth inning Tuesday night, leading to an eight-run inning and the end of Jordan Hicks' night.

"We've been really good defensively," Giants manager Bob Melvin said afterward. "When you have innings like that, things tend to get away from you."

The Giants have committed nine errors in 24 games.

Giants shortstop Willy Adames, the former Brewers star, committed the first of those errors on a wild throw after fielding a Vinny Capra grounder. Adames has made three of San Francisco's errors this season.

The two teams will meet again in Milwaukee in August.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
