Texas @ Oakland preview

Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum

Last Meeting ( Jun 20, 2013 ) Oakland 3, Texas 4

The suddenly surging Texas Rangers can tighten up the American League West race even further when they open a three-game series against the host Oakland Athletics on Friday. The Rangers have won four consecutive games after a dismal stretch and have moved within 3 1/2 games of Oakland, which has lost its last two games. Texas is 6-4 against the Athletics this season and won two of three when the teams met in Oakland from May 13-15.

Oakland won seven of nine games before losing the final two contests of a three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays. Texas lost 12 of 15 games before sweeping the Los Angeles Angels and then recording a 7-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. The Rangers are beginning a 10-game road trip while the Athletics are playing the final three contests of a 10-game homestand.

TV: 10:05 p.m. ET, KTXA (Texas), CSN California (Oakland)

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
