Miami @ Milwaukee preview

American Family Field

Last Meeting ( Jul 3, 2012 ) Miami 12, Milwaukee 13

Although Randy Wolf is clearly struggling, the veteran left-hander received a vote of confidence from Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke last week. Wolf will look to reward his manager's trust with a strong outing in Wednesday's contest versus the visiting Miami Marlins. If Wednesday's tilt is anything like Tuesday's wild affair, Wolf better be ready as the clubs combined for 25 runs and 31 hits in Milwaukee's 13-12, 10-inning win.

Aramis Ramirez belted a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th as the Brewers defeated the Marlins for the 10th straight time. Ryan Braun launched a three-run blast for his National League-leading 23rd homer and Corey Hart also went deep as Milwaukee matched a season high with its fourth straight win. Miami recorded a season high in runs in the loss.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH Josh Johnson (5-5, 3.80 ERA) vs. Brewers LH Randy Wolf (2-6, 5.78 ERA)

Johnson may have split his four decisions in June, but the hurler was dominant in all five starts. He allowed just seven runs and struck out 33 in that span. Johnson yielded one run on four hits in six innings to secure a 6-2 win over Philadelphia on Friday. He is 3-0 in his career versus Milwaukee.

Wolf has dropped four decisions and hasn't won since April 30. The 35-year-old matched season highs in both runs (eight) and hits (nine) allowed during Friday's 9-3 loss to Arizona. Wolf isn't doing himself any favors at Miller Park, posting a 1-4 mark.

WALK-OFFS

1. Norichika Aoki extended his hitting streak to 10 games with an RBI single in the third inning on Tuesday. Aoki has yet to face Johnson in his career.

2. Miami All-Star Giancarlo Stanton and 3B Hanley Ramirez did not start Tuesday's game due to sore knees. Ramirez, however, entered 0the contest in the ninth inning. Stanton insisted that he plans to participate in both the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game.

3. Jose Reyes nearly won the contest with his solo homer in the 10th inning. The Marlins' speedster has fared well versus Wolf, going 12-for-41 with a pair of homers.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
