Arizona @ San Francisco preview

AT&T Park

Last Meeting ( Jun 13, 2015 ) Arizona 4, San Francisco 2

Chris Heston pitched the only no-hitter in the majors this season in his last outing and attempts to post another strong effort when the San Francisco Giants host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. Heston handcuffed the New York Mets on Tuesday and struck out a career-best 11 while tossing the gem in the 13th start of his major-league career.

San Francisco could use another strong pitching performance from Heston with the offense producing two runs and six hits while losing the first two contests of the three-game set. The Giants were no-hit for the first 6 1/3 innings in Friday's 1-0 loss and for 5 1/3 innings in Saturday's 4-2 defeat and have lost seven consecutive home contests. Arizona has won five of its last six games against the Giants and first baseman Paul Goldschmidt had two hits and one RBI on Saturday and is 8-for-13 over the last three games. Center fielder A.J. Pollock had two hits for his sixth multi-hit outing of the month and is a torrid 18-for-49 in June.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Rubby De La Rosa (4-3, 5.84 ERA) vs. Giants RH Chris Heston (6-4, 3.77)

De La Rosa is winless over his last five starts and has been atrocious in his last two outings. He gave up nine runs and 10 hits in five innings Monday while losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers, following up an effort in which he gave up seven runs and nine hits in five innings in a no-decision against Atlanta. De La Rosa is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA in two starts against San Francisco this season.

Heston is in the midst of an up-and-down seven-start stretch as he has given up five or more runs in four of the outings and one total run in the other three starts. In the start prior to the no-hitter, he allowed five runs and seven hits in 3 2/3 innings while losing to Pittsburgh. Heston is 2-0 with a 0.66 ERA in two outings against Arizona this season with both victories occurring in April.

WALK-OFFS

1. Giants CF Angel Pagan is hitless in 17 at-bats over the last five contests.

2. Arizona C Jarrod Saltalamacchia was hitless in three at-bats Saturday and is 1-for-13 over his last five games.

3. San Francisco C Buster Posey had an RBI double Saturday and is 12-for-34 with a homer and seven RBIs during an eight-game hitting streak.

PREDICTION: Giants 4, Diamondbacks 3

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
