Arizona @ San Francisco preview

AT&T Park

Last Meeting ( Jun 12, 2015 ) Arizona 1, San Francisco 0

The San Francisco Giants are having trouble winning games at home and look to snap a six-game skid at AT&T Park when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday. San Francisco's last home victory was May 29 against the Atlanta Braves and the woes continued with a 1-0 loss to Arizona to start a five-game homestand.

The Giants had just two hits in the opener of the three-game set as Arizona's Chase Anderson pitched 6 1/3 no-hit innings before catcher Buster Posey reached on an infield single that deflected off Anderson's calf. San Francisco's offensive issues came hours after right fielder Hunter Pence was placed on the disabled list due to the wrist injury that has sidelined him since June 3. Giants second baseman Joe Panik went hitless in four at-bats to see a 15-game hitting streak that included eight multi-hit outings reach a conclusion. Arizona had 11 hits while snapping a four-game losing streak and the game's lone run crossed on an RBI single by outfielder Ender Inciarte, who has an eight-game hitting streak.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Allen Webster (NR) vs. Giants RH Ryan Vogelsong (4-4, 4.52)

Webster is being recalled from Triple-A Reno to start the contest after Arizona announced following Friday's game that scheduled starter Josh Collmenter was being sent to the bullpen. Webster has a 6-5 career mark and 6.25 ERA in 19 major-league appearances (18 starts) over two seasons with the Boston Red Sox and was 1-2 with a 9.00 ERA in five starts at Reno. The 25-year-old was acquired from Boston in the offseason as part of the package for starting pitcher Wade Miley.

Vogelsong has lost consecutive starts following a stretch in which he won four straight decisions. He allowed five runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings while losing to Philadelphia in his last outing. Vogelsong is 3-7 with a 4.85 ERA in 23 career appearances (16 starts) against Arizona and struggled in a two-inning relief stint earlier this season when he walked four and gave up two runs (one earned) and five hits in two innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Diamondbacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt reached base three times on two hits and a walk on Friday and is 6-for-9 with a homer over the last two games.

2. Posey is 11-for-31 with a homer and six RBIs during a seven-game hitting streak.

3. Arizona 3B Aaron Hill is 15-for-33 with two homers and four doubles against Vogelsong.

PREDICTION: Giants 3, Diamondbacks 2

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
