Last Meeting ( Apr 19, 2015 ) Arizona 5, San Francisco 1
The San Francisco Giants return home from a successful road trip to face the Arizona Diamondbacks in a three-game series that begins Friday. San Francisco finished 4-2 on its six-game trek, taking two of three from both Philadelphia and the New York Mets.
The Giants were on the verge of sweeping New York on Thursday as Brandon Crawford's two-run homer in the sixth inning created a 4-3 lead, but the Mets knotted the contest in the seventh and posted the victory on Michael Cuddyer's two-out RBI single in the ninth. Arizona is in the midst of a losing streak that reached four games with Wednesday's 7-6 defeat at Los Angeles. The Diamondbacks forged a tie on A.J. Pollock's leadoff homer in the top of the ninth inning, only to have the Dodgers answer with a run in the bottom half to complete the three-game sweep. The Giants opened the season by taking two of three at Arizona, while the Diamondbacks won three of four at San Francisco from April 16-19.
