Milwaukee @ Philadelphia preview

Citizens Bank Park

Last Meeting ( Apr 8, 2014 ) Milwaukee 10, Philadelphia 4

The surging Milwaukee Brewers and slugger Ryan Braun seeks their fifth straight win when they continue a three-game series at Philadelphia on Wednesday. After sweeping the World Series champion Boston Red Sox three straight in Fenway Park, the Brewers stormed into Citizens Bank Park and took the opener from the Phillies by a 10-4 score Tuesday afternoon. Braun, who had been slow to get going as he dealt with a thumb injury, erupted for three home runs and a franchise record-tying seven RBIs in the series opener.

While Milwaukee's No. 3 hitter went off, Philadelphia's took a seat on the bench, as second baseman Chase Utley was sidelined with flu-like symptoms. Utley had been on fire, posting a .458 average, two home runs and six RBIs through his first six games. The Brewers have won four straight meetings dating to last season and are off to a 4-0 road start for the first time since they opened the 1987 season with a 7-0 mark away from home.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee), TCN (Philadelphia)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Matt Garza (0-1, 1.13 ERA) vs. Phillies RH Roberto Hernandez (1-0, 3.38)

Garza's debut with Milwaukee was a solid one, as he took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before absorbing a difficult 1-0 loss to Atlanta. Garza was charged with one run - on a solo homer - and two hits in eight innings, striking out seven and walking one. The righty has a 1.30 ERA in five career starts against the Phillies and has allowed just one earned run in 13 innings all-time at Philadelphia.

Hernandez began his Phillies tenure with a win at Wrigley Field on Friday, limiting the Chicago Cubs to two runs and three hits in 5 1/3 innings. The 33-year-old will be making his second career start in Philadelphia, where he once gave up seven runs (five earned) in four innings. Hernandez has thrown just one inning in his career against Milwaukee.

WALK-OFFS

1. The four Brewers who have faced Hernandez are a combined 3-for-21 against him.

2. Braun's seven RBIs tie a team mark held by several others, most recently teammate C Jonathan Lucroy in 2012.

3. Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is 0-for-8 with four strikeouts against Garza.

PREDICTION: Brewers 5, Phillies 4

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
