Los Angeles Angels vs Baltimore Orioles Box Score on Aug 25, 2021

Ramon Urias and Kelvin Gutierrez each drew bases-loaded walks as part of a five-run eighth inning Wednesday, helping the host Baltimore Orioles snap a 19-game losing skid with a 10-6 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Austin Hayes added a pinch-hit, two-run double in the eighth as the Orioles recorded their first win since a 7-1 romp over the New York Yankees on Aug. 2.

DJ Stewart launched a two-run homer and Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander (three hits) also went deep for Baltimore.

Los Angeles' Brandon Marsh belted his first major league homer to highlight a five-RBI performance. Jared Walsh also went deep for the Angels, who have lost four of their last five games.

Los Angeles was nursing a 6-5 lead before Trey Mancini singled off Jake Petricka (0-1) to lead off the eighth inning and advanced to third on Santander's double. Stewart was intentionally walked before Urias walked on four pitches to tie the game.

James Hoyt relieved Petricka and struck out Jahmai Jones for the first out of the inning before walking Gutierrez for the go-ahead run. Hayes followed with his two-run double to left field, and Gutierrez scored on Mullins' sacrifice fly to stake Baltimore to a 10-6 lead.

The late offensive uprising made a winner out of Tanner Scott (5-4), who pitched two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout. Tyler Wells retired the side in order in the ninth to end the game.

Walsh gave the Angels a 3-2 when he led off the fourth inning by depositing a first-pitch fastball from Orioles starter Chris Ellis over the wall in right field. It was his 23rd homer of the season and the first since he belted a pair on July 7.

Former Orioles shortstop Jose Iglesias followed with a double and Max Stassi walked before Marsh sent a 3-1 changeup from Marcos Diplan over the wall in left field.

Marsh's homer staked Los Angeles to a 6-2 lead, but Baltimore halved its deficit in the bottom of the fourth. Santander singled and Stewart launched a first-pitch fastball from Shohei Ohtani over the wall in left field.

Jones scored on Mullins' groundout to trim Los Angeles' lead to 6-5 in the seventh inning.

Ohtani, who won each of his previous four starts, gave up four runs on five hits in five innings. He yielded three homers, and he struck out seven without walking a batter. At the plate, he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.
