It’s been a painful week for Mikel Arteta’s men, but we’ll learn more about Arsenal’s resilience this weekend. With the “same old Arsenal” noise bubbling to the surface, now is the time for the Gunners to respond.
While I see the visitors grinding out a precious win here, it’s the BTTS – Yes prop that’s grabbed my attention ahead of a pressure-packed outing for Arsenal.
Though the Gunners were shut out in their last two games and wasted good chances against Villa last weekend, I still believe in the creative sparks in their midfield.
Only Manchester City have scored more league goals than Arsenal this season, and Arteta has options to freshen things up with Gabriel Jesus or Leandro Trossard in the starting line-up after both came off the bench in midweek.
But Wolves can pose problems too, in what should be an open game. The hosts served up a four-goal thriller last time out, and they’ve scored in each of their last three games.
All of that feels like a recipe for action at both ends. Wolves are eyeing a top-half finish and, with Arsenal showing some fragility lately, I don’t see Gary O’Neil’s team sitting back. It’s a must-win game for the Gunners, with their season spiraling, and we’ve seen them crumble in the past. But I’m taking the Arsenal moneyline here and counting on the visitors to deliver a backlash this weekend.
Sure, Wolves will likely be the fresher team, but it’s hard to look past the class of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in the visitors midfield. Plus, the title race is too tight for Arteta to do much tinkering with his preferred starting line-up.
Bukayo Saka scored against Wolves in the prior meeting this season, and it’s his direct style on the right wing that could unlock the hosts’ back three.
