PSG and Ousmane Dembele can quite confidently overmatch Tottenham Hotspur in this match, and we're confidently backing the Parisians to win by multiple tallies.

On Wednesday, we see the season’s curtain raiser with the UEFA Super Cup between PSG and Tottenham Hotspur in Italy.

PSG had an incredible season, winning the Champions League. Meanwhile, Spurs sealed their spot here after winning the Europa League. The London club had a new manager last year, but it’s hard to see them matching PSG if they play anything like they did last term, which is why our PSG vs Tottenham predictions have us backing the Parisians with a -1 handicap.

Read on for my soccer betting picks for Wednesday, August 13, with kickoff at 3:00 p.m. ET on Paramount+.

PSG vs Tottenham picks and predictions

My PSG vs Tottenham best bet: PSG -1 (+110 at bet365)

When PSG and Spurs meet on Wednesday in the UEFA Super Cup, both teams get an early opportunity to grab silverware.

PSG stunned the world last season by winning four trophies, following a slow start to the season. The January addition of Kravat Kvaratskhelia helped take the team to another level, and the front three with him, Ousmane Dembele, and young superstar Desire Doue, tore teams apart.

The team is much the same as the one that swept everyone in front of them, minus Joao Neves (suspension) and Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has been replaced in goal by new signing Lucas Chevalier.

PSG's consistency gives them a huge advantage, especially against a Spurs team that has lost Son Heung-Min and has James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski sidelined with injury.

New manager Thomas Frank feels like a great fit for the Spurs job, but this game has likely come too soon, and given the quality at Luis Enrique’s disposal, PSG should win by multiple goals. We’re taking PSG -1 against the spread, but you could just as easily take -2 if you’re looking for a larger payout.

PSG -1

Ousmane Dembele to score or assist

Joao Palhinha to be booked

Fresh off a staggeringly impressive season, Ousmane Dembele is the frontrunner for the Ballon d’Or. He scored 35 goals for PSG last season and set up a further 13. If anyone is going to be involved in a goal for the Parisians on Wednesday, then it’s their talisman.

We’re also picking Joao Palhinha to get booked. The Portuguese midfielder barely featured for Bayern Munich last season, but the season before, in which he was a regular starter for Fulham, saw him pick up 13 yellow cards.

Given the quality in PSG’s midfield with Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz, there’s a real chance that Palhinha gets shown a card.
