My LAFC vs Club America best bet: LAFC to qualify (-110 at bet365)
In their last nine matches on the road in all competitions, Club America have been held without a goal seven times. And of the four goals they scored in that span, three came against an Atlas side that finished near the bottom of the Liga MX table.
That’s a major reason why they’ve lost five of their last six away fixtures, with just one draw in that span. It’s also why I’m backing LAFC to get the win and the massive payday that comes along with it.
The Black and Gold come into this match having won their last two home outings by a combined scoreline of 6-0, with four wins and a draw in their last five at home in all competitions. LAFC won their first four matches at home via a clean sheet to open the campaign, and have lost just once at BMO Stadium.
If we’re simply looking at the talent on the teams and the transfer value, then Club America would be the side to back here. But form matters, and it’s impossible to ignore the away form of the visitors.
It’s also impossible to overlook the fact that Club America does not have a reliable goal-scoring threat, with three different players leading them this spring with seven apiece. Making matters worse, the three of them have combined for seven goals in the last 10 matches—none of which have come in the past four outings.
LAFC have that reliable threat in Denis Bouanga, who has been involved in nine goals in his last eight outings. While he failed to register a goal or assist at the weekend against Montreal, he had scored goals in six of his previous seven starts with a pair of assists to boot.
The home side has scored at least two goals in each of their last eight matches, and they’ve conceded just four times in seven matches at home this season. It might take extra time, but LAFC will win the match and claim the financial reward associated with Club World Cup participation.
LAFC vs Club America same-game parlay (SGP)
Bouanga is at the heart of nearly everything LAFC does. Despite not having a goal or assist at the weekend, he led all players with five successful dribbles and attempted nine shots. If LAFC are to win this match, he will play a key role.
Club America aren’t scoring goals away from home, but they’re not giving them up very easily. Their last six away outings have all been scoreless heading into the break, and I see it taking a while to find a goal in this one as well. Without them breaching an LAFC defense that has conceded just four goals at home in seven MLS matches, I don’t see us getting to three goals.
