Chelsea vs Wrexham Picks and Predictions: Blues Will Cruise to Easy Win

While the Wrexham story may have the attention of many football fans, their quality is no match for that of Chelsea. As such, our Florida Cup betting cups are expecting a pretty straightforward affair for the Blues.

These are two clubs from very different ends of the English football pyramid but both sides have ever-increasing fanbases and this game will generate a huge amount of interest.

Surely, little old Wrexham can’t continue the fairytale and beat Chelsea in this preseason friendly in North Carolina? Don’t miss our Chelsea vs. Wrexham betting picks below to find out.

Chelsea vs Wrexham picks and predictions

These two clubs are at different ends of the big investment scale. For Wrexham, it’s only just begun but for Chelsea, they’ve been enjoying the spoils of huge investment for nearly two decades.

This Chelsea team has lost N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Kai Havertz, and Mason Mount this offseason... and that’s only in midfield. This is a team in huge transition but in Mauricio Pochettino, they have one of the best managers in the sport and some new signings. The best of which, Christopher Nkunku, will relish this chance to play against a League Two defense.

Despite all those outgoings, there’s plenty of talent in the Chelsea team and we’re likely to see well-established stars like Kepa, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, Conor Gallagher, Enzo Fernandez, and Raheem Sterling all start, as well as the debutant Nkunku.

Even more interesting will be Levi Colwill, Noni Madueke, and Mykhaylo Mudryk, who all feature having been at the Under 21 European Championships. Colwill, who spent last season at Brighton, is a player that Chelsea fans will be watching with a keen eye.

As impressive as Wrexham were last year, this is a team who have signed just one player, Will Boyle, this summer. They're favorites to win League Two this year but that doesn’t mean they’re anywhere near the quality of this Chelsea team.

For that reason, I’d recommend backing Chelsea -2 on the spread at +125. It’s a big price given the massive gulf in quality between these two teams, even though we’d all love to see the Wrexham fairytale continue.

It's hard to see Chelsea taking this with all the seriousness that they’d put into a Premier League match but this will be the first game for these players under their new manager and they’ll be keen to paint a good picture of themselves ahead of the new season and look to establish their spots in the Argentinian’s first choice Chelsea lineup.

Wrexham will be up for this and they’ll fight hard but they won’t have enough to stop the inevitable Chelsea victory, which they’ll achieve by a large margin.

My best bet: Chelsea -2 (+125 at bet365)

Chelsea vs Wrexham same-game parlay

Chelsea to win by 3+ goals (+125)

Chelsea to win the fist half (-175)

Both teams to score (-163)

At +500, this isn’t the biggest same-game parlay you’ll ever see but when the teams are this one-sided, it’s hard to make a massive wager, especially when some traditional prop markets like anytime goalscorer aren’t available on a preseason game.

As mentioned above, I’m pretty confident we’ll see a hardworking Chelsea, with each player looking to make a statement to their new manager. Yes, this is a friendly but they’ll want to prove a point.

With that in mind, it’s worth mentioning the second leg of the same-game parlay, for Chelsea to win the first half. As with most preseason friendlies, we’re likely to see a stronger team start the game and then for bench players and youngsters to take the field later in the game. Chelsea will come out of the blocks quickly and I’m expecting them to be two or three goals up at halftime.

I’m expecting Chelsea to win by a large margin, with the score being maybe 5-1 or 4-1. I think Chelsea will accelerate to a big lead but we’re likely to see a late goal for Wrexham, with the likes of Paul Mullin desperate to make a name for himself against a team of this standard.

Given we’ll see lots of subs for Chelsea it makes sense that things might get disjointed. Something which will only increase the chances of a mistake at the back, which is why the final leg of the same-game parlay is for both teams to score.

Chelsea vs Wrexham spread and Over/Under analysis

Chelsea are -450 favorites on the moneyline and it's hard to imagine them not winning. That said, you really shouldn’t be wagering on -450 favorites, especially in preseason friendlies.

So hold fire on that moneyline bet and I don't see much value in the draw or Wrexham prices either.

Again, you won’t be making much money if you back Over 2.5 goals here, which is surely how this game will go (-400). It’s very hard to see this match finishing with anything less than three goals and at +300, I certainly wouldn’t be backing the Under.

It’s best to attack this game by looking at other markets such as the spread, mentioned in my best bet, or even looking at other markets like both teams to score (-163).
