EPL predictions for Burnley vs Everton

The weekend's Premier League fixtures culminate in a matchup between Burnley and Everton, a game that, upon closer inspection, holds significant intrigue.

Everton manager Sean Dyche is set to return to Turf Moor, a place where he spent a decade shaping Burnley into a Premier League force and becoming a local icon. Despite his past contributions, Burnley let him go in a desperate bid to avoid relegation, a decision that failed to salvage their top-flight status. Dyche is sure to relish reconnecting with old friends while harboring a desire to settle old scores.

The looming threat of relegation adds a layer of tension to the encounter. The two teams find themselves separated by two positions and five points, with Burnley languishing in 19th place with eight points and Everton hovering just outside the relegation zone in 18th place with 13 points. Everton's situation is further complicated by a 10-point deduction, placing them firmly in the relegation battle.

As we consider betting options for this game, Everton, coming off four wins in their last five matches, may seem appealing on the moneyline at +105. However, the real value lies elsewhere.

Burnley has seen BTTS land in 56.3% of their games this season, though this percentage drops slightly to 50% when playing at Turf Moor. Nevertheless, Burnley has scored in five of their eight home games, making them likely to find the net on Saturday.

While Everton boasts a robust defensive record, conceding only 20 goals in 16 Premier League games, injury concerns loom large. With key players like Michael Keane, Jarrad Branthwaite, and Idrissa Gueye absent, Everton's defense may be vulnerable.

Everton has also shown attacking prowess lately, scoring in five of their seven away games this season. Considering the vulnerabilities in both teams' defenses and the charged atmosphere at Turf Moor, betting on BTTS at -118 offers favorable odds.

Neither team is exceptional at the back, and in front of an excitable Turf Moor crowd, I think we’re likely to see a game in which both teams get on the scoresheet.

My best bet: Both teams to score (-118 at TonyBet)

Burnley vs Everton same-game parlay

Both teams to score

Draw/Everton (HT/FT)

Both teams to receive a card

Along with our best bet, we're going to dive into the HT/FT market. Everton has developed a pattern in their recent Premier League outings by being level at halftime and then rallying to win in five out of their last seven matches.

To round out the SGP, we'll back both teams to receive a card. The stakes are high for this relegation battle, and both sides are likely to approach the game with a sense of urgency, especially considering the narrative surrounding Sean Dyche's return.

Everton has accumulated 32 cards in 16 Premier League games, while Burnley is not far behind with 37. Given those numbers, it’s a safe assumption that we should see cards here.

Burnley vs Everton side and Over/Under analysis

Given the suspensions of Branthwaite and Gueye, I'm hesitant to wager on Everton securing a victory, even though they appear more likely to win than Burnley prevailing or the match ending in a draw. However, at +105 odds, the potential defensive vulnerabilities make it a less appealing option for me. If you're inclined, you can consider betting on Burnley or the draw, both available at +245.

As for the total, it presents an interesting proposition with Over currently listed at +100 and Under juiced to -125. Everton is 8-8 to the O/U this season, while Burnley has cashed the Over in 10 of 16 games so far.
