It’s been a strange season for Liverpool. Despite mounting pressure on Arne Slot, they’re unbeaten in 13 matches, including 10 in the Premier League. The problem is too many draws, which has them sitting fourth.
Slow starts have been the root cause. Liverpool have scored just three goals in the opening 30 minutes all season and only 10 before halftime. Because of that, they’ve been forced to push the tempo after the break.
The results show it. Liverpool have 23 second-half goals, the second most in the Premier League, and 69.7% of their goals have come after halftime. By comparison, Bournemouth have scored only 48.6% of their goals in the second half, the second lowest rate in the league, with just 17 goals across 22 second halves.
With Slot’s side consistently raising their level after halftime, Bournemouth fading late, and the hosts now without Antoine Semenyo, backing Liverpool to win the second half makes sense.
