Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen side are two points clear of Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga table and know that a win here would give them a big five-point cushion in the battle for the title. Conversely, a win for Bayern Munich would flip the script and give the Bavarians the lead, something they are very familiar with having. If they get into a lead in this title race, then it could well be game over.
Despite injuries robbing us of some of the brightest talents on either team, there’s still a lot of great players who’ll be fit to play. Leverkusen are without Victor Boniface, who has been dangerous in front of goal this season, while Bayern are without a number of stars including Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman. Not only that, but with the speed of the attacking players around him it means he’s now lethal on the counter-attack too.
He's scored six goals in his past seven Bundesliga appearances and will fancy his chances here. When these two teams met in September in Munich, it finished a 2-2 draw and Kane got on the scoresheet there too. The particular reason we’re taking it here is because of their championship know-how and experience. We’re now in February, reaching crunch time in the title race, and it’s Bayern who have all of the experience of being in this position.
While Harry Kane may yet to have won a title, the majority of his teammates have won multiple and know exactly how to thrive in these situations. It’s going to be mentally challenging for Leverkusen, especially with reports of their manager potentially replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. When it comes to betting the moneyline, I can’t avoid Bayern Munich at +140. It’s a very big price for a team of serial winners who have one of the best strikers in the world. There’s talent across the pitch for the Bavarian team and combining the quality with experience and they should get the win. If you want to bet Leverkusen, you can get +160, or the draw at +280.
With odds of -213 you aren’t getting good value at all on Over 2.5 goals but it’s hard to bet the Under at +170 when the numbers don’t offer any hope. We’ve seen eight of Leverkusen’s 10 home games in the league have three or more goals, and eight of Bayer Munich’s nine games away from home. Not only that, but the last meeting between the teams finished 2-2. Goals make the most sense here, but odds of -213 aren’t that appealing.
