Aston Villa vs Arsenal Predictions and Picks: Defending Villa Park

Most expected Arsenal to contend for the EPL title this season, but very few saw Villa's incredible run coming. The Villains currently sit in third spot, and our EPL predictions are banking on them to defend home soil and continue ascending the EPL table.

So who will come out in Saturday’s final Premier League fixture? Don’t miss our Aston Villa vs Arsenal EPL predictions for Saturday, December 9.

Aston Villa vs Arsenal best odds

EPL predictions for Aston Villa vs Arsenal

We have an absolute monster of a game in the Premier League this Saturday with Aston Villa vs. Arsenal. These are two of England’s most storied and decorated clubs, so it’s always a game of note but this is arguably the biggest clash between the two teams in decades.

Heading into this weekend Arsenal lead the Premier League with 36 points, four points behind them in third place sit Aston Villa, sandwiching Liverpool in second. To say Aston Villa have been fantastic this year is an understatement. Since Unai Emery arrived at the club last year they’ve been on an upward trajectory but nobody thought that be in the top three of the Premier League in December. A huge win over Man City on Wednesday, a game in which they dominated, has truly put them in the title race and totally changed the narrative around what this team could achieve.

Arsenal also had a statement victory this week, with Declan Rice again scoring a last-minute winner. This time his goal gave Arsenal a 3-2 win over Luton in what was a tight game at Kenilworth Road. Did Arsenal deserve three points? Probably not but they managed to leave with them, which as cliched as it has become is the trademark of potential champions.

That leads us to our best bet for Aston Villa vs Arsenal and after what I’ve seen from both teams in recent weeks, I have to back Aston Villa to either win or draw, which you can back on the double chance market for -130. That seems like huge value to be able to cover two different results, even against the Premier League leaders.

Arsenal have won four Premier League games on the bounce, with Villa winning three from their last four and drawing the other. These are teams in great form but I have been so impressed with Villa that I have to back them or the draw here. In the past couple of weeks, they’ve beaten both Spurs and Man City, two of the country’s best teams and they’ve done it by playing well, this hasn’t just been a defensive smash and grab.

Against Man City, we saw Aston Villa have 22 shots to just two for Man City. They may not have dominated possession, but they who does against a Pep Guardiola team but they negated City’s strengths.

Arsenal may have four wins on the bounce but let’s consider the opponents in Luton, Burnley, Brentford, and Wolves. With the greatest of respect to these teams, they are teams that Arsenal or any potential Premier League winner should be swatting aside easily. Yet Arsenal needed extra time winners to defeat both Luton and Brentford.

I believe Unai Emery can create a gameplan to cause his former team Arsenal some serious problems and I genuinely believe that he’ll take points off them. Getting -130 on the double chance gives us two potential ways to win cash.

Aston Villa vs Arsenal same-game parlay

Aston Villa double chance — Win/Draw

Bukayo Saka to score or assist

Lucas Digne Over 1.5 tackles

As always we’re going to start with our best bet for the game which in this case is backing Aston Villa or the draw on the double chance market. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen Aston Villa really demonstrate why they are firmly in the Premier League title race, and we’ve also seen Arsenal win with late winners, after struggling to break down teams earlier. I think this bodes well for Villa and they should be able to get something from the game.

Next up we’re going to back Arsenal right winger Bukayo Saka to either score or assist. I’m confident that Arsenal will score here and there’s a high chance that the brilliant Saka will be involved. He’s picked up five goals and six assists in 14 Premier League games this season. In each of his club’s past six games in the Premier League or in Europe, he’s had either an assist or a goal, racking up five assists and three goals in that six-game span.

Finally, we’re going to back Villa left back Lucas Digne to have Over 1.5 tackles. He’s been averaging 1.8 per game in the Premier League and now comes into a game where he’ll be matched up with the aforementioned Bukayo Saka. Arsenal will have plenty of the ball and attack Villa which will further the likelihood of him making two or more tackles.

Aston Villa vs Arsenal side and Over/Under analysis

The double chance best bet shows that I think Aston Villa will get something out of this game and in truth I think that’s a safer way of betting Aston Villa vs Arsenal than the moneyline. However, if you

fancy Emery’s team you can get +235 on a home win or +265 on the draw. Premier League leaders Arsenal come in at +105, which in truth is one of the few times this season you’ll get them at plus money, so if you believe in them, which I don’t, then it’s worth backing.

We will likely see goals according to the bookies with Over 2.5 goals at -133 and Under 2.5 at +110. There have been Over 2.5 goals in five of Villa’s past six games in the Premier League and I’d expect that trend to continue given the attacking firepower that both sides possess.
