**2009 Atlantic-10 Conference Tournament Thread**

Well that ends the Conference Season....could have been better, was better, but could have been worse. What hurts is that my Rams are probably off the bubble 
 
This will be my PRE Conference tournament..once the conference starts I will open a new thread with bets...lets check out the lines to win it

Couple notes etc. Surprised X isnt favored. Must be due to the draw as they will have Temple/St. Joes probably. Dayton's draw is much easier...well its down to who has value, who can win etc.

Crnshw Good Stuff!  Surprised X isn't favored even with a tougher draw.  Tough to imagine Dayton playing well against X after that last meeting.

Give me Temple in this one although im not thrilled to see St. Joe's again. I'm not scared of X away from their gym. Dayton certainly doesnt scare me either. Neither of the Ohio schools will be in the title game.

Teams who have value...
 
First let me state what VALUE is. Value is the MONEY given to win tournament based on seeding, who they play and how good I think they are...
 
WHO HAS VALUE:
 
Massachusetts +2500- They are not this bad of a team for 1, and 2, they are VERY DANGEROUS. They are 3-2 against the top 4 seeds this year . Also, they dont have an easy draw, (who does as a 1st round matchup), but they dont have to play Xavier til the finals should they get there. They beat URI, so they can win there, and Dayton is the only SCARY team on the other side of the bracket...with their guard play they have a shot....
 
Xavier +200- Solely based on the fact that they are the best team here and really dont have a TOUGH game til the semi's (Temple/St. Joes assuming)...
 
St. Josephs +800- St. Joes at +800 is not too bad. A tough draw, but not a bad 1st round matchup against Charlotte who they should be able to handle. Vet leadership and a good coach. Will they run thin if they go to the semi's or finals due to lack of bench and tire? +800 is a lot, hence value...
 
Temple +500- Temple is better or AS good as URI IMO and their draw is about the same...slightly harder I guess??? But +500 with a guy like Xmas, surrounding cast of Olmos, the new young PG from Argentina etc, I like +500, its not bad. They have the skill set to do it...

I think Duquesne +1800 is value too. They play that f'd up style that if it's hot can do some major damage.

St.Joes I think can do the same thing as last yr, upset some people and fall short in the end. Temple def has the valuse there. URI should be able to beat Dayton on neutral court and make it to the finals.

Richmond +1000: Not a bad draw for them really. Bonnies are the weakest team in the tourney IMO. They have a shot to beat Dayton, then from there you never know...wish the line was a LITTLE higher but its not. On the fence, but I will say SOME value
 
Duquesne +1800: Gotta give it based on their draw. They can hang wiht URI and certainly could win that. Mass is a tough club, but they did well against them. Got spanked by Dayton at home, but still cant count them out. +1800 is a bit high...some value..AJax can take over a game
 
No Value:
URI +325- Tough loss, tough draw and +325 is not high enough IMO
Dayton +175- Easier  draw, but +175 is too low
La Salle +1500- Dont think they can win and they are in X's bracket
St. Louis +2000- Suck away from home and tough draw with X/Temple/St. Joes awaiting if they can get by game 1 (who they just lost to at home)
Charlotte/Bona- Sorry guys, thanks for coming though

URI has a shot dont get me wrong but +325 is NO VALUE..doesnt mean I dont think they can win...They have DUQ/Mass after round 1 and iMO thats the toughest of the 4 seeds Quarterfinals Draw. Winner seemingly would play Dayton..but maybe gets lucky if Dayton gets knocked off...But they have 3 VERY tough games ahead if they are to win...not everyone has that...hence no value. If they were +500 like Temple..Id say value...

finals will come down to URI and Xavier struggle w/ it as u may.  These 2 teams are the 2 forces in the A-10 give Temple a 1st round win.  Duquense will go out in 1st round.  Dayton struggles mightly in nuetral site games.

I liked Duquesne's chances if they got a draw.  Could they make the final game?  Sure but with their style they should be gassed by game #4 in 4 days.

Vegas, in terms of overall depth the only real team that comes to mind is URI
 
Their bench includes: James, Cothran, Martell and Mejia...those are 4 guys that get good minutes. They also will play Eaves who has had his moments...they are 10 deep really for the most part...
 
Duq's bench is pretty good too as well as Xavier's

that opening line with Dayton favored makes me think they're gonna steal it.

...i really have no idea how XU was not the favorite at the opening, but that speaks wonders as to waht is going to happen. I'm thinking Dayton is worth a play at +225, but i also think URI has found some success in Atlantic City and i don't see why that would stop. The last loss i'm sure is deflating, and i'm not sure if the guy who got screened is okay as he took quite a hit, but i think they could string something together as Jimmy Baron doesn't want to miss the NCAA tourney in every year under his dad.
