I just wanted to say thank you to the NHL for completely helping me to hit rock bottom. I have no soul left because you have robbed me o f that Youhave completely robbed me of any confidence I had  in my handicapping ability and confidence In myself. You have completely robbed  me in the worst financial way possible. Thank you for making me so disgusted at myself for even investing one red cent of my hard earned money on this sport. I sincerely want to thank you for giving me the motivation to finally stop betting it has really taken its toll on me. Especially the last month and this past week. This will allow me to finally focus on the important things in life. I wish all of the good people in this forum the best and good luck and much love and respect for those that put the effort in to making this form enjoyable. Don't know if I'll be back I can't keep doing this to my family. Hope you guys have better luck then I did. Peace.

I'm right there with you. In the last month I have lost most people's yearly salary. Wish you the best

Its a tough racket Jroc. You can never go wrong by focusing on your family.

Jroc, I don’t know you personally but your post hit home. Once the fun is taken out of gambling, it’s time to take a step back. Your handicapping isn’t the problem...it’s just the playoffs. The second season is a coin toss filled twilight zone. I lost on the first two nights and took a step back. Because of the unpredictability factor and too many variants, I’m content with playing free nhl contests on a few sites and focusing on the grind & family. However when I see that the circumstances are ideal for a decent value bet with low margin of error I make a bet of 5 units. If I win I win, if I don’t at least I had fun. The unpredictability of the playoffs translate to no bet is a sure bet. Thank you for sharing your story! Best of luck!

Thanks fellas and good luck to all even Dr Limp. This forum is the only one on this site that has people with class contributing. I really hope I can fight this. It's not fun or entertaining any more for me. It's actually damaging my psychie and my attitude towards the ones around me that are important. I found my self not enjoying being around my children bexbeca I know a game was on or I wasn't paying attention to them because I am so worried about getting a game in before puck drops or chrcchec a score. Tonight my wife and child wanted finish  watching a show with me but instead I said fk that I am watching Tampa and CBJ. Wow what a selfish self centered piece of crap I am ..and for what ..even if I had won I still would have been a loser for doing that to them. So either way I lose even if I win.

Well said jroc....your last post really hits home. I too have a ten-year-old and I too around dinner time this evening was rushing to get in those 6pm bets on the NBA and NHL playoffs. My only saving grace is that I have never really lost a significant amount of money, don't bet large and don't chase but over the years it all adds up. It's not about the money or financial losses for me, it is about the unbelievable amounts of time required to look at lines, study games, handicap and watch the games. It is nonstop really around the clock 365 days a year. That is the part that bothers me the most about this lifestyle.

All the best to you....

Smaller sample size in the playoffs every night makes it more difficult for me. The playoffs are like playing roulette.

hockey is the most random of all the sports for picking straight up winners:

https://www.vox.com/videos/2017/6/5/15740632/luck-skill-sports

gambling is as potentually as dangerous as any drug....financially , it's worse than any drug...there is only so much coke you can snort or crack you can smoke.

the real thing gamblers lose is time they will never get back.  all the time and energy over last ten years I have put into watching and betting sports if I would have invested that into improving my skills and knowledge and building relationships, I would be much better off financially in terms of career... not too mention not losing all the money I have lost
