NBA Totals - Wednesday 2-8-12

Today (2-8-12):

New Jersey vs. Detroit OVER 186

Portland vs. Houston UNDER 197.5

I have not locked either of these in. I will be watching the lines throughout the day. Yesterday, waiting for the Boston/Charlotte and Miami/Cleveland lines was the difference between winning (which I did) or losing those bets. OKC/GS? Not so much. Currently I have my lines for the New Orleans/Chicago and Denver/Dallas games at 183 and 190 respectively; I'll wait to see what those lines are when released.

 

New Orleans/Chicago came out at 182, a point difference from my numbers, so that will be a no play. Denver/Dallas is at 196, a 5.9 point difference from my total, so that is not yet a play, but I will be watching to see what this does throughout the day.

Portland/Houston has already moved to 198 at my book; going to see if I can get that to go higher and then pounce. New Jersey/Detroit remains stationary.

Love the Houston Under Portland struggles to score on the road

CHITOWNODAWG - the game is actually being played in Portland tonight, where the Blazers have no problem scoring points. I'm looking for Portland's defense to step up and hold Houston in check tonight after losing a tough home game to OKC. The line on this seems like it should be a bit higher which also makes me like the under outside of what my numbers are saying. I will have to wait and see what this line does throughout the day before making it a final play.

I waited too long for the Houston/Portland total and ended up losing two points (it was at 198), so I jumped on it now.

Does anybody have any information on why the Portland/Houston total is plummeting? It started the day at 196, got up to 198 and is now down to 195. Is this just the normal course of the line through bets put in or is there information about the team(s) that would account for the movement?

Down to 193.5...

194 now.

Perhaps I'm watching it TOO closely and happen to be catching every move each time I hit refresh.

Needed Houston to hang on to that large lead late, but of course they couldn't and Portland fouled; over hit only because of the barrage of free throws late. At least it hit 199 and I don't feel like an asshole for not hitting it at 198 earlier today. Just like unders, all it takes is one quarter (the first in this case) to completely dictate where the total will fall. Back at it tomorrow. I'm getting really tired of these even (minus vig) days.
