I am intrigued that UR isn't getting the kind of discussion that Dullahan is.
I completely agree that UR had excuses...the one standing out, IMO, is who he is. UR is a big imposing horse. He does not have the ability to duck in and out of traffic. He needs to be on the outside and needs to run. When he did this in the FOY and the Champaign, he is an imposing, fantastic horse, same as when he got free in the Breeders Juvenile, although he veered out sharply for some reason which does make me question his ability for distance (was he tired?)
Now, I agree he had a rough trip in the Derby, although the worst trip in modern years had to be Looking at Lucky in 2010. I am still not sure why JL did not simply impose that horses will. No reason for him to check. My worries for the Belmont are the distance issue, based on him veering out in the Juvenile and that we have a 12 horse field. He will either have a wide trip the entire way or have to manuever through traffic.
I can say for sure that I hope my book offers matchup wagers with UR and Dull-ahan because THAT will be my largest Belmont wager.
