NHL team projected to have the highest team point totals in 2025-26

Carolina Hurricanes (105.5)

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. After winning the Nikolaj Ehlers sweepstakes, the Carolina Hurricanes are stacked on the wings, and one could argue the only downside to their top six skaters is Jesperi Kotkaniemi at center.

The signing of K'Andre Miller fills a gap left on the blue line by the departure of Orlov and Burns, leaving Carolina with no serious weaknesses.

Vegas Golden Knights (104.5)

The rich get richer...

Mitch Marner decided to pack his bags and head to Sin City, creating one of the most potent top lines alongside Jack Eichel. Vegas is no stranger to success, and it should have no trouble cruising through the regular season with Marner leading the way.

The playoffs, however, are a different story.

NHL point total predictions

Best Over bet: Oilers Montreal Canadiens Over 90.5

-115 at DraftKings

The Montreal Canadiens made it to the playoffs earlier than expected last season, and this young squad is hungry for more. Montreal finished with 91 points, and I don't see a world where they take a step back.

Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield are the real deal, Ivan Demidov will add punch to both the top six, and Noah Dobson immediately slots into the top defensive pairing — replacing the 34-year-old Denis Savard.

Both Dobson and Demidov will also add much-needed life to a power play that was 21st in the league last year. As long as the goaltending can hold up, Montreal will be a serious problem in the Atlantic.

Best Under bet: Golden Knights Nashville Predators Under 85.5

-115 at DraftKings

The Nashville Predators were the biggest letdown last season, missing the playoffs after shelling out plenty of cash for Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault. The ROI was in the dumps, with the Preds finishing seventh in their division — only ahead of the Blackhawks... lol.

Will this team be more respectable this season? One would hope. Will this team be 18 points better than last year's total of 68? One can only dream. As the league is dominated by quickness and youth, Nashville is aging and slowing down, with six of its forwards past their 20s.

Top that with concerns about captain Roman Josi's health — 35-year-old Roman Josi at that — and I don't see a world where this team isn't anywhere but the bottom of the Central Division.
