Brady Tkachuk has performed very well since returning to the Ottawa Senators lineup, producing 17 points over 19 games while leading the team in shots.

With a matchup looming against the Colorado Avalanche, I expect Tkachuk to play a prominent role against the league’s top-seeded team.

Let’s dive into my Senators vs. Avalanche predictions and NHL picks for Thursday, January 8.

Senators vs Avalanche prediction

Senators vs Avalanche best bet: Brady Tkachuk Over 0.5 points (-135)

Brady Tkachuk has been producing at a strong clip this season, flirting with a point per game. The Ottawa Senators captain has only gone back-to-back games without a point once, and that was right after returning from injury.

Tkachuk hasn’t slowed down on the road either. He has 10 points in 11 away games and has yet to be held pointless in consecutive road contests.

The pace of play should favor offense, with the Senators (9th) and Colorado Avalanche (4th) both ranking in the Top 10 in 5-on-5 pace over the last 10 games.

Colorado will also be without two-way stud Devon Toews, leaving them more vulnerable on the backend. The Avalanche have lost both games without him, surrendering six goals in that span.
