Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets
Prop bet #1: Gotta have 'hart
Sam Reinhart has been coming up aces since joining the Florida Panthers. After back-to-back 30-goal campaigns, he’s crushed those numbers this season with 53 goals and 90 points — both career highs — with four games left to play. Reinhart has picked up at least a point in nine of his last 11 games, including a helper last time out in a 3-2 OT loss to the Bruins.
The 28-year-old center has been a dynamo on the power play, leading the league with 27 power-play goals and 34 points overall with the man advantage. On Tuesday, he draws the Ottawa Senators, who’ve long waived the white flag on this season.
Reinhart just saw the Sens prior to Boston, scoring his 53rd goal while adding an assist. That gives him points in five straight against Ottawa, and eight times in the last 10. In three games this year against the Senators, he’s tallied three goals and five points, with two goals and a helper coming on the power play.
Amazingly, he’s been given odds near 2-1 to pick up just a power-play point on Tuesday against a Sens team that ranks Bottom 4 in the penalty kill. Reinhart will get ample PP time to hit that mark.
Sam Reinhart prop: Over 0.5 PPP (+190 at Bet99)
Prop bet #2: Running with the Devils
Auston Matthews can’t stop, won’t stop.
The NHL’s goal scoring leader ripped mesh for his 65th goal of the season, as the Toronto Maple Leafs downed Pittsburgh 3-2 in OT. That makes it six straight games with a goal, and eight times in his last 10. With five games to go, he’ll have to average a goal a game to crack the 70-goal plateau.
Not that he needs any help, but on the second night of a back-to-back, Matthews and the Buds draw the New Jersey Devils — a team that happens to rank sixth-worst in goals against on the season (3.41). Matthews has one goal against the Devils in their lone meeting thus far this season, but he’s put together an incredible body of work against Jersey.
Since 2020 — a span of eight games — he’s piled up 10 goals and 14 points, including a pair of hat-trick performances.
It’s not all record chasing, either: Toronto still needs to finish strong, to prevent the Lightning from stealing its third-place spot in the Atlantic. Matthews, as always, will need to be prominent for the Leafs to be successful.
Auston Matthews prop: Anytime goal (-130 at Bet99)
Prop bet #3: Nathan's famous
There is no one that gets rubber to the net more than Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon.
That’s partly why he’s amassed 48 goals and 133 points heading into Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Wild. It’s those numbers that currently have him as the betting favorite in the Hart Trophy odds.
MacKinnon leads the NHL with 385 shots on goal, an average of nearly five per game. Only one other player — Boston’s David Pastrnak — is within range, with 369. Every other player is at 335 shots or fewer.
His line of 4.5 shots for Tuesday is within reach. Last time out, he peppered the Dallas Stars net with eight shots on goal, and he’s had at least five shots on net in 12 of his last 16 games.
Minnesota is middle of the pack in shots allowed per game, surrendering just a shade under 30, but MacKinnon has eclipsed that shot mark twice against the Wild during this current streak.
The Avalanche star thrives on volume — expect the beat to go on as he tries to secure both the scoring title and the MVP trophy.
Nathan MacKinnon prop: Over 4.5 shots on goal (-145 at Bet99)
