There are a pair of go-to matchups on the ice Wednesday, and our NHL player props are the perfect pair for the action.

The Lightning and Maple Leafs go toe-to-toe in an Atlantic Division rivalry match in the early wave of games, and the Oilers visit the Stars in a tilt between favorites in the Stanley Cup odds. Add the Battle of the Hudson River bout between the Devils and Rangers, and the docket is loaded with storylines.

New York and the Kings are the largest favorites in the NHL odds, and New Jersey and the Canucks are the only teams playing for a second consecutive night.

Here are our free NHL picks for the slate on Wednesday, April 3.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Lean on Laffy

With the New Jersey Devils playing the second leg of a back-to-back set, this is the perfect spot for a bounceback showing from the New York Rangers and breakout winger Alexis Lafreniere. New Jersey has allowed 11 goals across consecutive losses and the Devils are up to the sixth-most goals against per game (3.43) for the season.

Still, what has me most interested in these Alexis Lafreniere odds is that the Devils are also crumbling at 5-on-5 with a 23rd-ranked 48.1 Corsi For percentage and 19th-ranked 48.7 expected goals for percentage since the trade deadline.

Lafreniere has clicked with linemates Vincent Trochek and Artemi Panarin for an elite 58.0 CF% with a solid 3.77 goals and 3.1 xGF per 60 at 5-on-5 this season.

Alexis Lafreniere prop: Over 0.5 points (-110 at Bet99)

Prop bet #2: Stammer time in TO

The Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Toronto Maple Leafs in a familiar Atlantic Division rivalry matchup and Bolts winger Steven Stamkos has seen his shot volume skyrocket since settling into a secondary role at 5-on-5 as the go-to shooter alongside Anthony Cirelli and Brandon Hagel.

Stamkos is up to 51 shots and 92 attempts across his past 14 games, and he, Cirelli, and Hagel have impressed with a 55.4 Corsi For percentage and 60.9% shot share at 5-on-5 over their past four contests.

Additionally, I also value these Steven Stamkos odds because he’s the go-to shooter on the No. 1 power-play unit and Toronto has taken the fourth-most penalties per 60 minutes since the calendar flipped to March.

Steven Stamkos prop: Over 2.5 shots (-150 at Bet99)

Prop bet #3: Going with Garland

The Vancouver Canucks are coming off a tough 6-3 loss to the Golden Knights on Tuesday and winger Conor Garland failed to register 3+ shots for just the fourth time across his past 12 games. Garland has found a cushy gig skating alongside star center Elias Pettersson and the duo is rocking a 56.3 Corsi For percentage and 57.9% shot share at 5-on-5 this season.

Additionally, I’m also targeting these Conor Garland odds because he’s pacing the Canucks in both shots and attempts per 60 minutes and overall during the noted 12-game stretch, and this is a plus-matchup against the Arizona Coyotes.

The Coyotes have surrendered the fourth-most shots per game (32.6) and sport a 25th-ranked 47.1 CF% through 11 games since the trade deadline.

Conor Garland prop: Over 2.5 shots (-110 at Bet99)
