Our best NHL player props for Monday, January 5
Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.
Prop #1: Artemi Panarin Over 0.5 assists
Artemi Panarin is having another impressive campaign for the New York Rangers, scoring 16 goals while supplying 28 assists. I’ll focus on his playmaking for tonight’s clash against the Utah Mammoth.
The Russian has tallied four helpers across his last three games, and he’s cashed the Over in assists in four of his previous five appearances. Last time out, Panarin bagged two goals and set up another in a victory over the Florida Panthers.

- Where to watch: Utah16, MSG
Prop #2: Tim Stutzle Over 0.5 assists
This pick screams value at +100, and there’s no shortage of evidence to back it up. Tim Stutzle leads the Ottawa Senators in points (43) and assists (22). He’s tallied 11 helpers across his last 12 outings, and the German star has hit the Over in three straight.
His production is essentially the same at home and away, and he's registered 12 assists in 20 games at the Canadian Tire Centre, where the Sens will host the Detroit Red Wings tonight.
- Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
- Where to watch: FDSN Detroit, Prime Video
Prop #3: Quinn Hughes Under 2.5 shots on goal
Quinn Hughes has been producing a lot offensively since being traded to the Minnesota Wild. Although the assists have shown up on the scoresheet quite frequently, Hughes isn’t registering a ton of opportunities himself.
The defenseman has cashed the Under in SOG in five of his last six appearances, finishing with just two shots on target in back-to-back contests. Hughes is averaging 2.56 SOG this season, but that number drops to 2.15 on the road, and the Wild visit the Los Angeles Kings this evening.
He’s also tallied just two shots on net across two meetings with the Kings this season.
- Time: 10:30 p.m. ET
- Where to watch: FDSN North, FDSN West
