It’s a quiet slate across the National Hockey League tonight, with just four games on the schedule, but there's still value to be found on Friday, October 17.
My NHL player props will focus on Brock Boeser, Kirill Kaprizov, and Alex Ovechkin.

Our best NHL player props for Friday, October 17
Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.
Prop #1: Brock Boeser anytime goal
Brock Boeser signed a new deal with the Vancouver Canucks this offseason, and he’s certainly proving his worth early in 2025-26.
Boeser has three goals in four appearances so far, leading the team in scoring. He potted 25 goals last season and will be looking to put up even better numbers.
Vancouver faces the Chicago Blackhawks this evening, and Boeser had a goal in two meetings with them in 2024-25. The Hawks aren’t great defensively, and two of Boeser’s three goals have come on the road.
He will keep it rolling and find the back of the net again.

Prop #2: Kirill Kaprizov Over 1.5 points
Kirill Kaprizov is having a great start to this season as well after inking a historic deal that will make him the highest-paid player in the league.
The Russian has already scored four goals and tallied five assists in four appearances. He’s lighting up the stat sheet on a nightly basis.
He’s cashed the Over in points in three of his four outings this season. Kaprizov had a goal and a helper on Tuesday in a loss to the Dallas Stars.
Even though the Minnesota Wild aren’t off to the greatest start with a 2-2-0 record, Kaprizov is shining.
Kaprizov didn’t face the Washington Capitals last season, but I still expect him to make some noise, despite the Caps’ defensive brilliance so far.

Prop #3: Alex Ovechkin Under 3.5 SOG
It’s unknown just how much longer Alex Ovechkin will play, but he’s now the all-time leading scorer in NHL history and still a guy who is lethal in front of goal.
Ovi averaged 3.64 shots on target last season across 65 games, but he’s averaging 2.75 SOG through four outings this year. Ovechkin has cashed the Under in shots on net in every game so far. While he registered three SOG in three of them, his total is a little too high for me here to hammer the Over.
Yes, the Wild are 23rd in SOG allowed at 29.3 per night, but Ovi has yet to hit four shots on target in a contest in 2025-26, so the Under offers the most value here.
