Maple Leafs vs Flyers Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Toronto Still Has Philly's Number

The Leafs have won eight straight games against the Flyers, with many of those coming in dominant fashion. They've also been excellent on the road this season and our NHL picks expect that to continue tonight.

We’ve got 13 games on the NHL betting slate tonight, including a matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center.

Will the Buds bully the Flyers on Broad Street for the second time in a week? The NHL odds suggest they will, as does my best bet for tonight’s game.

Maple Leafs vs Flyers predictions

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers will clash for the third and final time this season. The Buds took the first two meetings by a score of 4-3, and then 6-2 last week in Philadelphia. Toronto will be looking for the sweep as they try to win their ninth in a row against the Flyers.

Toronto has also covered the spread in six of those eight wins, which has me eyeing Leafs -1.5 at +180. Simply put, the Leafs have owned the Flyers during Sheldon Keefe's tenure, outscoring Philly 39-17 over that stretch with an average of 4.88 goals per game.

Six current Maple Leafs are averaging at least a point per game over that stretch, including William Nylander (six goals, 13 points) and Auston Matthews (seven goals, 12 points in seven games). On defense, the Leafs have allowed just 2.13 goals per game over that span.

I think the Leafs continue this level of success against a Philly team that's lost its footing during the final stretch run of the season. Philadelphia has given up 6+ goals in three of its last four games, including last Thursday when the Leafs put up a six-spot on them at Wells Fargo Center.

In fact, the Leafs have been road warriors all season. Toronto has the No. 1 scoring offense — averaging 3.58 goals per game as the away side — and has the second-highest road-win percentage among all teams in the NHL at 20-7-6.

Additionally, the Flyers' backend is still very beaten up. Philly will still be without Nick Seeler, Rasmus Ristolainen, and Jamie Drysdale. That’s three of the six best defensemen for Philly. I don’t think it’s a coincidence these rookie goalies have seen their numbers plummet lately with this banged-up blue line.

I expect the Leafs to feast on that beaten-up blue line and replicate last week’s performance with a strong offensive output while limiting the Flyers' attack. A multi-goal victory should be the result if these trends continue.

My best bet: Maple Leafs -1.5 (+180 at SIA)

Maple Leafs vs Flyers same-game parlay

Leafs team total Over 3.5

Leafs moneyline

Auston Matthews anytime goalscorer

We’ll mirror the best bet and take the Maple Leafs on the moneyline as they look to win a ninth straight game against Philly. I also like for Toronto to go Over its team total of 3.5 tonight. The Flyers have given up 6+ goals in three of their last four games.

Toronto has been extremely successful in producing offense on the road, averaging 3.58 goals in such games this season. Not to mention the struggles of both Philly goaltenders, who have a combined save percentage well under .900.

For my final leg, I like Matthews to find the light the lam. It’s not often the Leafs score 4+ goals without this guy adding to his rocket total. He’s netted four goals already against the Flyers this season and has seven goals over the last seven meetings. Tonight, he’s looking to make it eight in eight.

Maple Leafs vs Flyers moneyline and Over/Under analysis

The Maple Leafs come into tonight as the road favorite at -130 odds, with the Flyers getting +110 odds at home. The Buds have played well on the road this season and have Philly’s number. Toronto has won eight in a row against the Flyers, including a 6-2 drubbing last week.

The total for tonight’s game is set at 6.5 goals, shaded toward the Under at -120, with the Over at +100 odds. The Over is 7-2-1 over the last 10 matchups between these two teams and it's also hit in five straight meetings. I’d lead to the Over with such a strong trend. It’s been profitable thus far.
