Kevin Fiala doesn’t possess gaudy totals, but he produces consistently, often chipping in a point and nipping droughts in the bud before they really get going.

With Adrian Kempe set to draw the toughest matchups on the road, my Kings vs. Stars predictions see Fiala capitalizing and making noise in Dallas.

Let’s break down my NHL picks for Monday, December 15.

Kings vs Stars prediction

Kings vs Stars best bet: Kevin Fiala Over 0.5 points (-135)

Kevin Fiala is a very consistent point producer, recording at least one in 65% of his games this season, and he hasn’t gone more than two in a row without a point all year.

He's done his best work on the road, where he generally sees less difficult matchups. Opposing teams tend to use their best personnel against Adrian Kempe’s unit, freeing up Fiala for more favorable usage.

Fiala has points in 13 of 17 road games, good for a 76% success rate. He's played seven road games against teams that rank in the Top 10 in limiting shots and/or points to forwards, recording a point in six of them — including against Dallas, Minnesota, and Vegas — three of the five highest seeds in the NHL.

Fiala has averaged nearly 21 minutes of ice time over the last five games outside of L.A.. Losers of two in a row and four of six, the Los Angeles Kings are likely to lean heavily on Fiala to try and get them back on track.

Kings vs Stars same-game parlay

Roope Hintz is another player who seems immune to the most difficult matchups. He's averaged 3.7 shots on goal in home games against teams ranking in the Top 10 in shot suppression, goal suppression, or both. He had four shots and two points while hosting Los Angeles back in October.

Wyatt Johnston has 10 goals through 16 games in Dallas this season and has scored in just under half of them. He hasn’t scored in seven consecutive appearances, his longest drought since last October.
