It’s a quick turnaround for both the Vegas Golden Knights and Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday evening as both squads look to bounce back from road losses on Saturday.

The Golden Knights fell to the Flyers 4-3 in overtime on Saturday afternoon and the Penguins lost 4-2 in Carolina a few hours later. Both teams had to travel to Pittsburgh after their losses.

Which team will get back on track on Sunday night? Read our free NHL picks for Golden Knights vs. Penguins below to find out.

Golden Knights vs Penguins predictions

There's been some recent regression for the Vegas Golden Knights with four losses in their last six games. Coming back down to Earth was bound to happen after going 11-0-1 in their first 12 games.

While the Pittsburgh Penguins get to play on home ice, Vegas counters that with a short — but possibly vigil — rest advantage. Due to an afternoon game in Philadelphia, the Golden Knights were likely on their way to Pittsburgh before the puck dropped in Carolina for the Pens game later in the evening.

The Golden Knights fought hard for a point in Philadelphia and will take that into Pittsburgh looking for two more.

"We've got to respect what the other team can do and minimize that part of the game and still play to our strength," Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy said. "We did for part of the game, but not enough."

Jonathan Marchessault had points on all three Vegas goals — two goals and an assist. He said the team didn’t play well enough in the third period.

"We could have done more with the start of the third period," Marchessault said. "We had one minute there and we could have done it better, or at least get momentum off it, and we didn't. I don't think we did good there."

With both teams on a back-to-back, the starting goalie matchup is key. Vegas saved Adin Hill (8-1-1, 2.07 GAA, .928 SV%) for Sunday while Pittsburgh is projected to start backup Magnus Hellberg (1-0-0, 2.50 GAA, .922 SV%).

Even the home-ice advantage the Penguins should have may not be there. Pittsburgh is just 3-5-0 at home opposed to 5-2-0 on the road.

The Golden Knights are the better team, have a slight rest advantage, and should have a strong edge between the pipes. Back them as slight favorites in Pittsburgh.

Golden Knights vs Penguins same-game parlay

Golden Knights moneyline

Under 6.5

Ivan Barbashev anytime goalscorer

The Golden Knights are our best bet so we’re using that as the anchor of our parlay.

On the season, the Golden Knights allow the third-fewest goals per game in the league (2.44) with the Penguins at a respectable 2.88. It’s also going to be Hill in net for Vegas and he’s been absolutely stellar this season. If Vegas keeps up this pace, Hill could be a dark horse in the Vezina Trophy odds.

Both of these teams have trended more toward the Under this season and that was the case for Pittsburgh on Saturday. Vegas has gone Under in four of its past six games as well.

To close out the parlay, we’re going to take a chance on Ivan Barbashev to score. Barbashev came over from St. Louis at last season’s trade deadline and he fit like a glove on the top line with Jack Eichel.

That's continued this season as the winger leads the Golden Knights with 3.39 ixG and 18 high-danger scoring chances at 5-on-5 play. He’ll have a better chance at converting on those chances against a tired Penguins team with a backup goalie in net.

Golden Knights vs Penguins moneyline and Over/Under analysis

There hasn't been much movement on the moneyline in this game. The Golden Knights are between -115 (where they opened) and -120 road favorites. Pittsburgh has moved to even money at some books after opening at +100.

The line should continue to move toward Vegas with Hill confirmed in net. I’d play them up to -130.

The total is at 6.5 across the board with the Under slightly favored. You can get the Over 6.5 (+100) at DraftKings and the Under 6.5 (-110) at FanDuel.

I would lean slightly to the Under 6.5 (-110) with two tired teams not looking to make many mistakes.
