Dougie Hamilton is playing his best hockey of the season. He has points in seven consecutive games and, without Luke Hughes, is getting more minutes and opportunities to put his shot to use.

My Devils vs. Kraken predictions and NHL picks expect another active offensive performance from Hamilton in Seattle.

Devils vs Kraken prediction

Devils vs Kraken best bet: Dougie Hamilton Over 2.5 shots (+105)

Dougie Hamilton’s shot volume is consistently higher without Luke Hughes in the lineup. Dating back to last season, Hamilton has gone Over this line in nine of 12 regular-season games while recording at least four shots on target eight different occasions.

What really makes a difference is the expanded role on the power play. He takes over as the undisputed No. 1 quarterback, and his shot is always a focal point when shop is set up in the offensive zone.

The numbers make that very apparent. With or without Hughes, Hamilton has cleared in this line in 11 of his last 13 games when seeing 2+ minutes of power play time.

The exceptions came against a Hurricanes team known for its shot suppression ability and suffocating penalty kill, and last time out in a game the Devils led for 59 minutes and weren’t forced to play aggressively.

Hamilton also benefits from an excellent positional matchup. The Seattle Kraken have allowed the third-most shots to defensemen this season and seventh-most over the past 10 games.

He faced the Kraken a couple of weeks ago — in a game Hughes played in — and cleared this line while recording nine attempts.

Devils vs Kraken same-game parlay

Hamilton should be able to get plenty of shots up in this game. Also skating on the top power play with all of the team’s top weapons, he’ll be given prime usage to hit the scoresheet and extend his point streak to eight games.

Jesper Bratt is skating on a loaded top line alongside Jack Hughes and Timo Meier, as well as the No. 1 power play — where he often plays catch up top with Hamilton. This is a nice buy-low spot to round out the SGP.
