The Montreal Canadiens will get back in action following a convincing win against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday. They now travel to Chicago for the Blackhawks' home opener at United Center.

The Habs have several key players that boast enticing NHL player props, including the always trigger-happy Cole Caufield.

Here are my Canadiens vs. Blackhawks predictions and NHL picks for Saturday, October 11.

Canadiens vs Blackhawks prediction

Canadiens vs Blackhawks Best bet: Cole Caufield Over 2.5 shots on goal (-155)

Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield has recorded three and four shots on goal, respectively, through his first two games this season, tying Zack Bolduc for the team lead with seven total.

He's still searching for his first goal of the season, but he's playing a Chicago Blackhawks team that gave up 35 shots on goal in their season opener and typically struggles defensively with a young, inexperienced back end.

Notably, Chicago allowed more than 200 shots above league average last season, ranking near the bottom in most defensive metrics. Montreal has outshot Chicago in seven of their last 10 meetings, including each of the last two at the United Center.

Without any significant changes to Blackhawks' defensive core and a discouraging performance in terms of shots allowed on Thursday, look for No. 13 on the Habs to be firing pucks all night.

Canadiens vs Blackhawks same-game parlay

Kaiden Guhle is one of the Habs' most consistent defensemen, tying Arber Xhekaj for the team lead with four blocks through two games. He blocked 124 shots in just 55 games last season, good for an average of 2.25 per game. He's also played upwards of 20 minutes in both games this season.

Both of the Canadiens' games so far this season have hit the Over, and as did the Blackhawks' season opening loss to the Boston Bruins. Additionally, each of the last three meetings between these teams (including both last season) hit the Over.
