Texans vs Chiefs Predictions - Early Picks & Odds for Sunday Night Football Week 14

The Chiefs are on shaky ground, and the Texans are looking like their best selves in recent weeks. Houston's defense does most of the heavy lifting while KC's attack isn't what it once was.

Before the start of the season, the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs looked like locks to make the AFC playoffs.

However, both teams are on the outside of the postseason picture as we enter Week 14, and can’t afford to stumble in the home stretch. One will win on Sunday Night Football, and my early Texans vs. Chiefs predictions like the visitors against the spread.

I size up the opening odds and early line moves as well as give my leans and NFL picks on Sunday, December 7.

Early SNF spread pick: Houston Texans +3.5

-118 at FanDuel

The Kansas City Chiefs were 5.5-point home favorites before losing at Dallas on Thanksgiving.

This spread officially opened Chiefs -4.5, and it didn’t take long for Houston Texans money to shrink this line as far as a field goal at some shops. The books that have dropped KC -3 are padding that key number with the juice at -115.

Depending on which side you like, you can find +3.5 or -3 on Monday afternoon.

This Chiefs offense has run hot and cold and faces a top-tier stop unit in Week 14. Houston is among the best defenses in the land, according to many advanced metrics, and knows this Chiefs offense well.

The Texans checked Andy Reid’s attack to just 212 total yards in the Divisional Round last January but still lost 23-14 due to special teams struggles and a stout Kansas City defense.

Early SNF total pick: Under 41.5

-110 at FanDuel

This Over/Under opened at 43.5 last night, and Under money has shown up in the first 12 hours of action, knocking it down to 41.5.

As mentioned, we have two very savvy stop units going, and two offenses that have a lot to be desired.

Patrick Mahomes and this Chiefs attack have lacked explosive plays and left points on the table with poor performances in the red zone.

Kansas City has pushed around weaker defensive foes but gets thumped by the league’s elite. The Chiefs' offensive line is also in rough shape and faces an aggressive Texans pass rush.

As for Houston, quarterback C.J. Stroud just returned from a concussion and wasn’t flashy in the win over Indianapolis. He heads to a chilly Arrowhead Stadium, where game-time temperatures are expected to be around 20 degrees on Sunday night. Stroud’s production sees a significant downtick when playing in outdoor venues.
